The cast of She-Hulk is expanding! Actress and comedian Ginger Gonzaga has been tapped to join the upcoming Disney Plus series alongside Tatiana MaslanyDeadline reports.

Now, She-Hulk follows the adventures of Jennifer Walters (Maslany). She’s the cousin of Bruce Banner. Walter is an attorney who received a milder set of Hulk powers courtesy of an emergency blood transfusion from Banner. The show is described as a “legal comedy.” Gonzaga will portray Walters’ best friend.

December’s Disney Investor Day revealed a slew of developments on the She-Hulk front. Firstly, Mark Ruffalo is poised to reprise the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Secondly, Tim Roth is also returning as The Abomination, a character he played in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk opposite Edward Norton

She-Hulk boasts Jessica Gao as head writer with Kat Coiro and Anu Valia at the helm.

Gonzaga is best known for her work in Showtime’s Kidding starring Jim Carrey and I’m Dying Up Here, also created by Carrey. She had a recurring role in the first season of Netflix’s Steve Carrell comedy Space Force. Gonzaga’s credits also include Family Guy, NBC’s Champions and Hulu’s Chance.

Marvel declined Deadline‘s request for comment.

She-Hulk first appeared in the Marvel canon in The Savage She-Hulk #1, dated February of 1980. Since her first go-round, Walters has been a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, the Defenders, Fantastic Force and S.H.I.E.L.D. She’s made cameos in several animated TV series with notable actors such as Katee Sackhoff and Eliza Dushku lending their voices for the heroine.

A handful of television projects starring She-Hulk failed to pull through, so Larry Cohen sought to make a film in the late 1990s with Brigitte Nielsen in the lead role. However, for some inexplicable reason, the movie never saw completion.

I’m so elated that this cast is coming together. Maslany is a consummate performer as evidence by her Orphan Black tenure. I haven’t seen Gonzaga in anything yet, but Disney and Marvel have a knack for finding talent. I have all the faith in the world that She-Hulk will … wait for it … smash.

She-Hulk is slated for a 2022 premiere on Disney Plus.
