gilmore-girls

It’s here! A new trailer! And boy it did *not* disappoint! Very minor spoilerage below (but it shouldn’t interfere with your enjoyment of the series at all!)

Rory is so GROWN UP.

Seriously, Rory sounds like an adult now. Her vocal pitch has dropped and she just looks so… womanly. It’s really cool to see! And based off of this, it’s pretty clear the trailer is about womanly Rory, world traveled Rory, wiser than her years Rory coming back to Stars Hollow for a visit. And based on this trailer, it’s got me thinking the primo reason is because of her grandfather.

Gone but not forgotten.

Edward Herrmann sadly passed away in 2014, and it’s clear that asides from being an incredible actor and performer he was very much loved by the cast and crew of Gilmore Girls. This new miniseries doesn’t appear to beat around the bush, with some terrific storytelling going on that shows grief being handled in the way that humans handle it best. Downsizing their stuff.

Emily was in a t-shirt. A T-SHIRT. This is going to be SO GOOD.

But seriously, get your tissues ready people, you’re gonna need them for the series.

Boys boys boys.

It was pretty clear from all the hype and, y’know, on-set photos and press from earlier this year that Rory’s three guys were making an appearance in the new min-season. And they all feature in this trailer, although Jess is the only one who gets some dialogue action. Considering where we left off with him, being more responsible for his life and actions and behaving like a decent guy, I’m hopeful that if anything does get re-kindled romantically for Rory it’s with him.

It feels like home.

Okay so I may have watched it a few times over (WHERE’S PAUL ANKA PEOPLE?!) and you know what? It’s honestly making me more excited about the series, instead of how most trailers make me feel these days (like the story is being completely spoiled and major character developments ruined).

The trailer feels like a home coming. Like a pair of comfy slippers. It makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy wuzzy. It’s clear the spark hasn’t left the actors and they’re all picking up where they left off without any problems. The footage looks crisp, colourful, sharp and grand. Everything we would expect it to be.

Get excited people. The Gilmores are coming home.
