It’s a sad day for Marvel fans looking forward to this show. According to Deadline, the live action Ghost Rider series starring Gabriel Luna was not picked up by Hulu.
According to the report, the production team behind the series developed creative differences with the streaming giant that could not be resolved. Therefore they’ve dropped the show. This comes 4 months after being announced with a 2020 release date, alongside another upcoming Marvel series Helstrom. It’s currently unclear whether or not the show will be shopped elsewhere. With all the Marvel television series being announced for Disney+, there’s a slim chance it could find life there.
The show was set to follow Robbie Reyes (Luna) as the supernatural demon bound in hellfire. The character made it’s debut on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, though the solo series would have been set in a different continuity. It would follow Reyes on the Texas-Mexican border bringing vengeance for innocents while he struggled to wield his powers. A series like that could’ve done a lot of good for the current climate but alas. We’ll have to keep our eyes and ears peeled and hope it sees the light of day.
