A full season of Reservation Dogs is on the way from Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi. FX officially ordered a full season today. This is one of few series on the way that is written, directed, staring and about Indigenous people. The story is loosely based on Harjo and Waititi’s childhoods.
“As longtime friends, it was only natural that Taika and I found a project together, and what better than a show that celebrates the complementary storytelling styles of our indigenous communities––mine in Oklahoma and Taika’s in Aotearoa. We’re thrilled by the opportunity to tell the Reservation Dogs’ story with our amazing cast and crew, Garrett Basch, and the whole team at FX.” – Sterlin Harjo, Deadline.com

Reservation Dogs is about four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who spend their days committing crime… and fighting it. Harjo and Waititi filmed the pilot in Okmulgee, Oklahoma this past summer.
Reservation Dogs stars Paulina Alexis as Willie Jack, Devery Jacobs as Elora Danan, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai as Bear, and Lane Factor as Cheese, pictured above. Guest stars include Tamara Podemski, Zahn McClarnon, Macon Blair, Kirk Fox, Matty Cardarople, Dallas Goldtooth, and Lil Mike and Funny Bone.
This is super exciting for this girl from Oklahoma. Harjo is well known in Oklahoma for his telling of Seminole-Creek people. And to see one of his stories on television is a long time coming.
There is no release date for Reservation Dogs as of yet. I’ll definitely keep my eye on this one!
