As I said, the Reservation Dogs are up to no good. In the second teaser for the upcoming Indigenous comedy, the ‘dogs’ leave the scene of a crime. We’re less than a month away from the premiere of the Taika Waititi and Sterlin Harjo series. And learn more about these guys and gals, little by little.
In the second teaser, we see the Reservation Dogs, Paulina Alexis, Devery Jacobs, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Lane Factor walking out of a store. Seems pretty normal, right? Until you hear a woman yelling, “No, no, no … ” That’s when the foursome takes off running with food in every pocket and hand. They lose a couple of things, but they look like they’re having a blast.

Reservation Dogs follows four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma as they steal, rob and save to get to California. The series is loosely based on Harjo’s childhood growing up in Oklahoma, mixed with some elements of Waititi’s Maori upbringing. The series was filmed in Okmulgee, Oklahoma where there is a large population of Indigenous people.
Speaking of Indigenous people, Reservation Dogs is the first series to feature all Indigenous writers, directors and lead cast. Harjo was ready for the responsibility that comes with being the first. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s really amazing to just let us be funny, that’s who we are. Telling this story for me is something that is so easy and needed. I’m not worried about what happens because all you can do is tell the truth.
If the teasers tell us anything is that these kids are up for anything. Check out the Petty Theft Teaser below.
Reservation Dogs premieres on August 9 exclusively on FX on Hulu.
