While we had coloring books in a pre-COVID world, our interest in them spiked while we were locked away from the rest of the world. It was easy to slip into the relaxing activity while it felt like the rest of the world was in chaos. It was so relaxing that it has stuck with us ever since. But it isn’t enough to have just an ordinary coloring book. We need something that appeals to our other loves. This is why, when offered to check out The Unofficial Horror Movie Coloring Book, we absolutely had to.

It’s no surprise that we love horror movies. Honestly, we love horror in almost every media, from video games to podcasts to books. So, it’s pretty clear that a coloring book featuring iconic scenes from our favorite horror movies would be a big hit. The beginning features a little forward breakdown of the movies by freelance writer Vernieda Vergara. Her work can be found on Book Riot, Den of Geek and many other sites. Vergara is also a huge horror fan, and the tidbits she shares give colorers a glimpse into the source material.

Andy Price does the illustrations within The Unofficial Horror Movie Coloring Book. They feature iconic scenes from The Exorcist, Halloween, Get Out, Child’s Play, etc. Personally, our favorite comes in the form of a rather iconic scene from the Scream franchise. What we really enjoy about the book is just how much attention to detail it contains. With coloring books, you can have too much to fill in or not enough to work with, and these illustrations walk that line beautifully.

Another essential thing to mention with The Unofficial Horror Movie Coloring Book is just how well it’s made. The pages are thick enough that if you color in with markers, they will hold up well without ripping. We suggest that if you choose to use markers, place a piece of paper between the pages to avoid any chance of bleeding through. With over thirty images to color, you will have tons to tie you over. You might even want to go on a horror movie binge and watch as you go.

The Unofficial Horror Movie Coloring Book is available now. Are you reading to dive into this horrifying good time? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
