Imagine.
It’s 1995. You’re just a 13-year old kid who is reading some Batman comics while Friends plays on the television behind you, and all you can think about is how you think comic books are perfect for television. How you’d like to see Batman on TV again, but not in a way that spoke fun at the idea. You just wish the world would wake up and see the cultural gold mine running under their feet.
And now it’s 2016 and we have a hit show called Gotham, on a major network, based on Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon. And, one of Batman’s silliest sounding villains, Mr. Freeze, is on that show.
That’s where we’re at right now. We’re watching a Batman show and Mr. Freeze is on it. In fact, he’s a highly-anticipated character that an entire marketing campaign is based around.
Whether you love the show or hate it, believe the show is amazing or think it’s terrible, the fact is that it’s a hit show, which means people are watching it, which means there is a demand in America for one of the biggest networks to make a Batman series.
After that sinks in, watch this trailer for Gotham’s February 29th return, featuring our first actual footage of Nathan Darrow as Mr. Freeze, a.k.a. Victor Fries (pronounced freeze).
In the trailer, we see Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) chained to what appears to be an electric chair, Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) slipping more into his Riddler persona, and Mr. Freeze (Darrow) freezing a cop in his tracks.
Anyone wanna put money on this guy later being shattered?
