On Friday, the world will be able to experience Marvel‘s first female-led film, Captain Marvel. To celebrate, they’ve released a series of TV spots giving a little bit more footage and lots of things to think about before the premiere. Namely just how much butt Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is gonna kick in this movie!
In the first spot “Moment”, we get a better look at some of her fellow Starforce teammates. Minn-Erva (Gemma Chan) is looking apprehensive flying a starship while Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) is pulling out some sweet dual laser swords. They’re bright green to match his outfit (and not quite a lightsaber). It also appears that Yon-Rogg (Jude Law) leads missions from the comfort of a command center – the lazy bum! In “Origins”, we see her in a very cool pose while in full-powered glory. However it’s to be noted that we see her talking to the Supreme Intelligence (Annette Bening) who says “we will know soon enough”. What will we learn soon?
In “Empower” we learn that Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) used to look up to Carol a bit. She was the fastest, strongest, and the absolute baddest. Also a huge pain in the ass, too. We see that the foundations of the Avengers are being laid down when Coulson (Clark Gregg) asks Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) if he thinks he can find others like her. However, there’s no one else like her. Look at how she takes out that ship! We also get a glimpse of some Skrull going to war. This spot is action packed!
In “Destiny” the Supreme Intelligence says that Carol’s powers are for “the good of all”. We’re thinking she means the good of all Kree and not the good of the universe. However, she says something interesting. “This isn’t about fighting wars, it’s about ending them.” Something similar to what Carol had said in the first trailer for the film. It’s unclear if the Intelligence is speaking about ending wars by wiping out the Skrulls or ending wars by a hero like Carol taking a stand. We’ll have to wait and see.
