The first trailer for MA released yesterday and it has serious potential for being one of the most promising, psychological horror-thrillers of 2019. Directed by Tate Taylor, the trailer follows a group of Ohio teens trying to get someone to by them booze. They seem to hit the jackpot when loner Sue Ann (Octavia Spencer) not only agrees to buy the goods but gives them a place to party in peace. Where is this safe heaven, you maybe asking? Nowhere creepy, just her super dusty basement.
With this promised land comes a few ground rules: one of the kids has to stay sober to be the designated driver, never go upstairs and call her “Ma.” Seems pretty fair. Of course, it doesn’t take long for things to get out of hand. When “Ma” oversteps a few boundaries, some of her new young friends don’t want to hang out with her anymore and she does not take it well. Watch MA become unhinged in the new trailer below!
