“Fire and blood” is more than just House Targaryen’s mantra — it’s a way of life. Said way of life also includes deadly dragons aplenty! HBO’s House of the Dragon released two pieces of concept art for new dragons on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly reports. Now, the dragons are slightly different than what we’ve seen previously on Game of Thrones, the upcoming series’ predecessor.
The official Game of Thrones Twitter account shared the concept art and also confirmed that House of the Dragon will begin production in 2021.
House of the Dragon is based on author George R.R. Martin‘s Targaryen compendium Fire & Blood. It’s set 300 years prior to the events in Game of Thrones. The Targaryen civil war, known as “Dance of Dragons,” will take place amid the show’s tenure.

Unfortunately, the only cast member to join House of the Dragon thus far is Paddy Considine, who’ll portray King Viserys I Targaryen. Here’s hoping more casting announcements will be revealed in the coming months since the show is slated to premiere in 2022.
You can take a peek at the new Targaryen pals below. I have all the faith in the world that these dragons will look incredible once the series debuts. Despite the subpar ending, one thing Game of Thrones had going for it was spectacular-looking dragons. Seriously — they were top-notch.
Co-showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik are at the helm while Martin will serve as executive producer. Stay tuned for more House of the Dragon updates as they come, here on Geek Girl Authority.
