Tarkin is in Rogue One!
Breaking up the videos for a moment, if you had watched the “Breathe” teaser, you would have definitely seen the back of someone’s head. Someone’s important head. Darth Vader! I’m kidding. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Grand Moff Tarkin will be in Rogue One! There was suspicions of Tarkin being in the film with one of the earlier trailers but it was all speculation. Now with a better shot of the back of his head (yes, they like the back of his head almost as much as Vader), it’s confirmed! What do you think of Tarkin being in the movie? Is it an obvious thing to do? Let us know!
New Images!
StarsWars.com updated their databank with some more characters and descriptions of them. Thanks to PresnaImperial for pointing it out!
Bistan – The efforts of the Rebellion have drawn warriors from across the galaxy, fighting to liberate their homes and free their people from the oppression of the Empire. Though Bistan wants to ensure the freedom of fellow lakaru, truth is, he’d rather fight no matter what, relishing the thrill of action.
Moroff – Moroff seeks out combat zones in the galaxy to sell his brawn and firepower to anyone who might need it. Not interested in the details of the Empire versus rebels conflict, the mighty Gigoran mercenary figures there’s money to be made for a towering heavy gunner of great strength.
Pao – An amphibious Drabata, the fierce commando Pao charges into battle with the Empire while shouting a full-throated battle cry of “Sa´kalla!” as is his custom. He joins the Rogue One team on its historic mission to secure the Death Star plans.
Edrio Two Tubes – Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic. They share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio’s native world of Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. With a desire to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.
TIE Striker – A streamlined variant of the classic TIE fighter design, the TIE striker is designed for atmospheric patrols over important Imperial ground-based installations.
Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle – With its starkly geometric hull shape and bat-like wings, the approach of Delta-class T-3c shuttle is an imposing sight. Once it lands and deploys its passengers – the cruel director Krennic and his squad of elite troopers, all sense of dread proves extremely warranted.
Shoretrooper – Specialist stormtroopers stationed at the top secret Imperial military headquarters on Scarif, Shoretroopers patrol the beaches and bunkers of the planetary facility.
Imperial Ground Crew – Imperial installations, whether space-bound or ground-based, buzz with activity and vehicular traffic. Skilled ground crews sort through this would-be chaos and see to the smooth operation of Imperial craft through regular maintenance.
C2-B5 – The Galactic Empire relies on astromech droids to maintain its machinery, but unlike the Rebel Alliance, Imperial technicians do not grant their droids independence and subject them to frequent memory wipes to keep them subservient.
In additon, PresnaImperial were able to get images from the digital version of Empire Magazine!
John Knoll Pitched Rogue One!
In addition to those lovely images you see above, Empire Magazine also revealed that ILM’s John Knoll pitched the idea of Rogue One. Don’t know who he is? John Knoll was the visual effects artist that’s worked on 5 Star Wars films so far. According to the magazine, he pitched the idea of the Rebel spies who stole the Death Star plans while working on Revenge of the Sith. George Lucas wanted to focus on other stories and producer Rick McCallum said no outright. Once Disney bought Lucasfilm, Knoll pitched the idea again, this time to Kathleen Kennedy. Thankfully, he’s seeing his dream come true!
Obi-wan Kenobi in the Sequel Trilogy?
Moving to a bit of sequel news – Anthony Breznican of Entertainment Weekly sat down with Rebel Force Radio and dropped some potentially great news. Breznican is the go-to guy for Star Wars exclusives, as Entertainment Weekly gets exclusive stories told by him. With that little nugget of information, here’s what he said on Rebel Force Radio.
Rebel Force Radio: …And lastly is the rumored Obi-Wan spin-off, something Ewan McGregor has been on the record as saying it’s something that he would be interested in. What do you think the odds are of something like that?
Anthony Breznican: Um, I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet…
RFR: Ohhhh.
AB: …in the Saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan thing happen beyond Episode IX.
RFR: Holy cow!
AB: Which it would have to anyway, because they’re booked up until Episode IX.
RFR: Of course, yeah, of course.
AB: So I don’t think that’s controversial to say, but I think that there’s bound to be some reference to Obi-Wan – and I’m not being coy here, this is literally all I know is that [Lucasfilm’s thinking is] “Ehh, if you want to tell an Episode IX story, it’s better that it happens after this first trilogy, because things that happen in it can maybe reference The Force Awakens trilogy.”, if that makes any sense. Some of this is sort of like doing CIA spywork, where you get little pieces of information and then you try to connect them. But I think that they’ll probably be some reference to Obi-Wan in the Saga films, and his connection to whatever characters he happens to have a connection with. I’ve already written that I think that Rey has some kind of connection to him – family connection. So if that’s the case, maybe we see a part of that play out in the future Obi-Wan movie. Ewan McGregor would be the perfect age to reprise that [character]…
RFR: Yes! Right.
AB: …So he seems game to do it, and I think [the movie] hasn’t been one they’ve greenlit just yet, but partly because they’re still shaping that story. So we’ll see. I think it’s – again – kind of a no-brainer.
Now! This is a rumor. However, I doubt Breznican would risk his position with all those sweet exclusives just to say this rumor. It’s possible it’s a Lucasfilm plant or he’s just heard from people at Lucasfilm the current goings on. Either way, this is still a rumor and may not go anywhere. Personally, I think if he does appear, he’ll be talking with Luke. The two of the talked so much in the original trilogy that if he were to come back, I think it’ll just be with Luke. I don’t think it’ll be because Rey is his granddaughter or something. I could be very wrong though. What do you think of this rumor? Do you still want to see an Obi-wan solo film as badly as I do? Let us know!
Rogue One Ticket Sales Break the Internet
It’s almost cliched to say “break the internet” at this point but it’s true. Rogue One ticket sales went up this week and fans crashes multiple sites. There were online ticket queus with fans waiting upward of 4 hours to get their tickets, sometimes crashing before they even got them. Did you get your tickets? I got lucky and bought mine relatively easy on my phone. My friend, however, said the website wasn’t letting him get the tickets. How was your experience getting tickets? Let us know!
Force For Change
Force For Change has been busy this holiday season and we’re thankful for that. For one, Force 4 Fashion was launched. In addition, Nissan is teaming up with Force For Change to donate toys to Toys For Tots. You can check out their ad below.

Rogue One Premiere Will Be Livestreamed!
That’s right! Just as The Force Awakens did last year, the Rogue One Premiere will be livestreamed on Saturday December 10th at 5pm PST. StarWars.com will be hosting the stream so you’ll be able to see it on their site, on their YouTube channel, the go90 app and also Fios TV. You can see the announcement and more stories, including an interview with Director Gareth Edwards on The Star Wars Show below.
Interviews! So many interviews!
The cast have been very, very busy promoting the film all over shows and countries! There are far, far too many to include all in one wrap-up. It would take a day to cover them all. So I’ll be sharing a few interviews for you to enjoy. Let me know if I missed any one of your favorite interviews from the week.

Gareth Edwards had an interview in France. StarWarsNewsNet got a translation and it’s a fantastic read. And People Magazine released a 20 minute video with cast interviews and behind the scenes look at Rogue One. Another great watch.
Rogue One Interactive Site – The Death Star!
StarWars.com launched an interactive website where you can see the Death Star plans! It lists out the important features including the tractor-beam generator tower, firing field amplifier and targeting field generator. While it’s not the full Death Star plans, it’s a very cool look at the inside of the Death Star. A definite must-see for diehards. Check it out here!
Donnie Yen Has Been Immortalized
As a tradition in Hollywood, icons are honored and remembered for their contributions to film and entertainment. TCL Chinese Theatre honors them with handprints, footprints & autographs in cement in the theater’s forecourt. Donnie Yen has been honored and had a ceremony on November 30th. Kathleen Kennedy was also in attendance!

Star Wars Episode 8 Begins Scoring
In sequel news, Star Wars Episode 8 will begin scoring this month! In an interview with Variety, John Williams discusses his latest musical endeavors. One sentence stood out.
His next film, however, won’t be: He begins recording “Star Wars Episode VIII” in December and expects to record off and on through March or April 2017.
Which means Episode 8 Director Rian Johnson has a solid cut of the film ready. Does this make me so very happy? Yes. Does this mean we’re getting Episode 8 early? I doubt it. Not sure what this means other then Episode 8 is going to be great next year!
Rogue One Soundtrack Cover Revealed
Speaking of music, the soundtrack cover has been revealed and makes a nod to John Williams. Of course it’s the movie poster, so it’s unsurprising. The soundtrack will be released the same day as the film, December 16th.
A Rogue Poster
A new Galen poster has emerged. It’s in vain of the other posters where the Death Star plans are projected over their faces. Why was this poster not shared with the rest of them? I’m not sure. Surely Galen is a large part of the film, too. Very strange. But nonetheless, another cool poster. Rogue One also got another poster, with the crew silhouetted against the Death Star. I like the look of this one, almost has a retro feel to it. What do you think?
Rogue One Costumes at Disney Bay Launch
MakingStarWars headed over to Disney to take some shots of the costumes displayed at Disney’s Bay Launch. They include Chirrut’s Lightbow, Shoretrooper armor, Bodhi Rook’s goggles, Imperial tech uniform, and more! You can check out the pictures and their coverage of it here.
Rogue One Press Conference Liveblog
StarWars.com hosted a press conference liveblog today with many of the cast members and executives. Some quotes from the liveblog include the following.
Kennedy: “We’re looking at each of these movies without a rulebook…It very much is in the spirit of what George Lucas did to begin with.”
The challenge of acting opposite Vader? Mendelsohn says it took a little while to get to the place where it felt like “they could have a conversation,” noting he’s a “first generation fanboy.” Edwards adds that between takes, Mendelsohn would sing Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and selections from Frozen.
Do casual fans need to revisit Star Wars to appreciate this? “This can be a whole introduction to the franchise,” Kennedy says. “It really does stand on its own.”
