Here at Geek Girl Cantina we’ll be wrapping up the week in Star Wars news. This week we got more Battlefront II news, Colin Trevorrow talked Episode 9 and more. It’s another quiet week but it’s the calm before the storm. Let’s get into it!
Happy Father’s Day!
Star Wars is all about family. And what better way than to celebrate your favorite guy with sharing the galaxy far, far away. Maybe your wheezy, half robot Dad who tried to kill you…. Or your Dad who made the Death Star. ….oops?
To Star Wars families across the galaxy, #HappyFathersDay. pic.twitter.com/goNvBOlGdQ

Battlefront II Inferno Squad Audiobook Narrator is Pretty Pumped
For those unaware, Battlefront II’s storyline will follow the leader of an elite team for the Empire. Her name is Iden Versio. Her voice actress, Janina Gavankar, is really happy about the role. And even more happy because she now gets to narrate the audiobook about the character’s past. Score! We’ve seen this before, with Ashley Eckstein narrating the Ahsoka book. It’s a cool little thing Lucasfilm has been doing and I hope they keep it up for fans.
Secret is out? I can talk about this now?? Tis truuue!!!! 😁And Ms. @ChristieGolden has me so emotional with this backstory. https://t.co/FdyzVvV3b2

Who Shot First?
Crew shirts for the Han Solo film have emerged online. There are so many different ones it’s really hard to know which is the real thing. One thing that is common, however, is the blaster L logo. Check out this one below and tell us what you think. We don’t think the film is called Solo, but we’ll see.

Honoring Carrie and TLJ View
Mark Hamill went to the Tony’s and had a wonderful time. While there, he presented the In Memorium section where he honored Carrie Fisher in a little nod. He also clarified statements regarding his comments on Luke in TLJ. Speaking with Variety, he says he was surprised with how director/writer Rian Johnson viewed Luke. He started the comment off by saying he got in trouble by saying he fundamentally disagreed. While I don’t really like Lucasfilm punishing Hamill for his comments/thoughts, at least he’s playing nice and clearing the air. Check out the nod and his interview below!

Colin Trevorrow Is Dialed in For Episode 9
Speaking with Fandango, the director/writer Colin Trevorrow talked briefly about Episode 9 and boy I’m happy with certain things he’s said. There’s been concern among fans as his film The Book of Henry is not well received. But we can only hope what he says is what he plans to do.
Fandango: So you’re about to make a Star Wars movie — is that something that you think about? How much you’re going to influence this younger generation, handing them a movie and an experience they may cherish for the rest of their lives?
Trevorrow: It’s how it was with us [growing up]. Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia were all characters that we were able to identify with in various ways, and especially with the character of Rey and what she means to young girls right now, and the challenges that she’s up against. It is extremely crucial that I understand what actual children are feeling about these stories that we’re telling them, and I think it’s important that I have kids, and if filmmakers don’t have kids, they should go talk to them because they don’t see things the same way that we did when we were kids. So, yes, I am very dialed in to that because I think it’s a requisite of the job.
I like this. Though it kind of gives me Return of the Jedi vibes, with him focusing on kids (as RotJ did), it’s great to hear. Rey is extremely important not only for little girls. So fingers crossed!
Fandango: Rian Johnson has a list of movies he watched that helped inform Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Do you have a list of movies you watched or are watching right now to help you prepare?
Trevorrow: I mean, I watch movies all the time just cause I’m a person, but I’m not in a research phase right now. I also do a strange thing, which maybe isn’t the right thing to do, but as I get close to a movie I stop watching movies that are similar to it because I’m afraid I’m going to rip off shots from them or something and I want it to feel pure and instinctive all along the way. There’ll be an interview someday where I’ll say what those movies were that inspired me, and they’ll print it. That’s not yet, not yet.
Fandango: Is it your hope to make a film that’s better or more memorable than, say, Return of the Jedi?
Trevorrow: My hope is to make it as richly satisfying as it could possibly be. I have a lot of support, and a lot of really brilliant thinkers and storytellers around me. Kiri Hart and the Lucasfilm story group, and Michelle Rejwan, and Kathy Kennedy, my producers, and J.J. [Abrams] and Rian [Johnson], and Larry Kasdan, and when you look at this army of brilliant people that we have, it’s not me alone. It’s a whole team.
I hate comparing, even though I just did it. But hopefully Trevorrow won’t be asked about being compared to RotJ as much as Johnson has with ESB. With the Lucasfilm team, we can only hope for the best for Episode 9. What do you think of his comments? Let us know!
Break-Bot!
In this week’s funny, R2D2 and the love of my life BB-8 get into a dance off. Who wins?
And that’s it for this week’s news! Did we miss anything? Let us know! Come back next week for more Star Wars news!
