SATURDAY, APRIL 25: 2:30 – 3:15PM WHAT HAPPENED TO THE UPPER-MID-BUDGET BLOCKBUSTER? (ROOM S229) Remember when we used to go to the movies every summer not only to see sequels and comic-book movies, which are great, but we also went to see movies based on great new ideas and unknown properties, all of ’em presented with what we’ll call an “upper mid-budget” amount of money? Remember movies like TOTAL RECALL? Or ROBOCOP? Or DIE HARD, before it spawned countless lesser sequels and imitators? Or even THE MATRIX. Of course, we all love comic books, but why can’t a movie as inventive and entertaining as EDGE OF TOMORROW (which was based on a manga!) succeed in today’s marketplace?

SATURDAY, APRIL 25: 4:00 – 4:45PM ICON-O-CLASH 2015: THE FINAL FEMME (ROOM S233) Ripley vs. Buffy. Xena vs. Starbuck. Hermione vs. Wonder Woman. Who would win? Who SHOULD win? You tell us! After a long and arduous online battle between 64 female heroes, GEEK GIRL AUTHORITY and LEGION OF LEIA, will reveal The Elite Eight women of the ultimate ICON-O-CLASH Tournament. Engage in a lively debate in this exciting, fan-centric panel where the jokes run free and the fandom flows deep! Your votes will determine the Final Four, the Top Two, and then the tournament champion, The Final Femme! Ellen Ripley won the Inaugural 2014 ICON-O-CLASH Tournament, will she reign supreme again? Join Moderator Audrey Kearns (Geek Girl Authority, 5 Truths and a Lie), Jenna Busch (Legion of Leia, Cocktails with Sam), Matt Key (The Groundlings, Popcorn Talk’s Marvel Movie News), Joseph Scrimshaw (Obsessed, Rifftrax, TableTop), Alan Kistler (Writer of New York Times Best Seller, Doctor Who: A History), Melissa McQueen(McQueen of Divas Isis/Shazam Parody, Dorks of Yore), Pat Kilbane (Mad TV, Dorks of Yore) and Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion, MMORPG.com) for the fun times!

SATURDAY, APRIL 25: 5:00 – 5:45PM SPOILERS! PHASE THREE SPECULATION ON THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (ROOM S233) If you read comics at all, chances are good that you have your own theories on what’s to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how Feige, Whedon, the Russo brothers and James Gunn are shaping it all up. However, one of the storytellers is lying through their pretty little teeth. Come by and see if you can guess the liar! Hilarity and good times guaranteed! SUNDAY, APRIL 26: 12:00 – 12:45PM FEMALE HEROES: THEN AND NOW (ROOM S231)Join Jenna Busch and Audrey Kearns as they discuss female heroes and how they’ve evolved over time, from Princess Leia to Wonder Woman to Ms., then Captain Marvel.
