Welcome to this week’s installment of Geek Girl Authority Crush of the Week, wherein we shine a spotlight on strong women who inspire us. Each week, we will highlight a favorite female character or creator of geeky media.  These ladies are a prime example of female empowerment and how crucial it is for young girls to have said example to follow.

DISCLAIMER: The following contains possible spoilers for Netflix’s The Order season one. If you are not caught up with the series, then you may not want to read on, but if you don’t care about spoilers either way, then continue!

Lilith Bathory

Fast Facts:

Lilith Bathory (played by Devery Jacobs) is not your typical college girl. By day she is a devoted student at Belgrave University on the Netflix series, The Order. By moonlight, she’s a member of the Knights of Saint Christopher; a ‘gender-neutral collective’ of werewolves sworn to fight the dark magic of Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, aka the Order.

The Knights are a small group of college kids who befriend Jack Morton (Jake Manley), a member of the order and newborn werewolf.  You don’t become a werewolf by being bitten, a wolf skin has to choose you.  So when the wolf chooses Jack, he becomes a double agent.  Lilith is the only one who is suspicious of Jack and wants to kill him.  In fact, she wants to kill everyone in the Order. Most of the time you’ll find her studying or talking about her kills. One thing’s for sure, Lilith loves being a werewolf.

The Real Deal:

Although little is known about her background, her presence is commanding.  She has a big bark and an even bigger bite. Lilith never backs down from a fight but isn’t so stubborn that she doesn’t know how to compromise.  Her first priority is to protect her pack, Randall (Adam DiMarco) and Hamish (Thomas Elms), but living with two male wolves isn’t easy. Good thing she’s great at beer pong.

Lilith has dealt with the Order before; in fact, she used to be in the Order, like Jack.  She was kicked out…something to do with torture. Upon her expulsion, the Order erased Lilith’s memories. Hamish found a spell that restored her memories and it gave the Knights leverage.  The Order caught Lilith and held her hostage. They tortured her to get information about the Knights, but she never gave up any information.  Lilith didn’t need the boys to save her. Her memories of her time in the Order saved her.

Why She Matters:

Lilith matters because she is the only female werewolf in a one-time brotherhood devoted to saving the world.  She is fierce, brave, and has immense strength because of her wolf.  Her confidence gives her the courage to jump into a battle.  Her resilience gives her the motivation to keep fighting even in the face of death. And her humanity gives her the ability to care for her pack.

So be like Lilith. Never back down from a fight, be confident in your abilities, and never rely on a boy to save you.

The Order is available to stream now on Netflix.
