Eloise Bridgerton
Fast Facts:

Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) is the fifth child and second daughter of Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell). Raised along with her eight siblings, she is the middle child of this high society clan. As Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) prepares for her first London season, Eloise is investing her time into her studies. She wants more than the dresses and balls the rest of her sisters seem to be obsessed with. Eloise has dreams of one day attending university and living outside the social norms of Regency-era London.
During season one of Bridgerton, Eloise takes on a very important mission. To uncover the identity of Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews). She spends her downtime following up on different leads and questioning possible suspects. It starts as a simple curiosity until Lady Whistledown hurts Eloise’s best friend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her family by revealing a scandal within their household. Eloise needs to find Lady Whistledown and get her to right the wrongs she has caused.
The Real Deal
Miss Eloise Briderton is the real deal. Regency-era London is full of high society ladies bred with one goal in mind: to find a husband. However, Eloise has other goals and she won’t let anyone stand in the way of them. She is invested in her studies and is constantly seeking out new knowledge. There is no question she isn’t afraid to ask. Especially when it comes to learning more about herself and her gender. There is an entire episode where Penelope and her attempt to learn more about how women get pregnant.
But she isn’t all brains. Eloise has a lot of compassion and is loyal to her friends and family. While she tends to bicker with Daphne and does not always understand her, she always has her sister’s back. She worries over the stress the London season is bringing on her along with what awaits her once she is married. Eloise is also extremely supportive as well. She pushes Benedict (Luke Thompson) to pursue his love for art and stands by Penelope’s decision to hopefully find love and marry. All she wants is for those she loves to be happy and safe.
Why She Matters

So why does Eloise Bridgerton matter? She is funny, inquisitive and is driven to become more than what society sees in her. In a world that sees her as one thing, she dares to be something different. And she doesn’t just want this for herself. She wants to change society’s standards for everyone around her. She wants Benedict to be able to openly pursue his art. She wants Penelope and other female members of the ton to have their freedoms. She wants people to be more educated on what is going on around them. She is an inspiration for everyone around her.
So be like Eloise. Ask tons of questions, stand by those who you love and don’t let society dictate who you are meant to be.
