Draka was born to the Frostwolf Clan in Draenor. She was a weak and sickly orc who brought shame on her family and clan. Draka was discriminated against to the point that her family was forced to move to the outskirts of their village. In her teen years, Draka sought out Mother Kashur and a cure to strengthen her body. She was sent on a quest to obtain three items that would be used to create a potion. After completing her mission returning stronger than ever, Mother Kashur revealed there was never any potion. But in truth, the journey was intended to make Draka a strong and determined Frostwolf orc.

Upon returning to her rightful place among her clan, Draka met and fell in love with Durotan. She stood by his decisions through the years even as they accepted the demonic curse and built the Dark Portal. Before leaving for Azeroth, Draka and Durotan visited his mother Geyah. They shared with her that Draka was with child and they would name him Go’el.  After the birth of her son, Draka secretly met with Orgrim Doomhammer to discuss bringing an end to the Shadow Council. Orgim told them to take shelter in the north until he sent word. However, the guards he sent to protect them were turncoats.

Both Draka and Durotan met their end against the Shadow Council’s spies, but this is not where Draka’s story ends. Her soul traveled to the realm of Maldraxxus within the Shadowlands. She joined the House of Eyes under Margrave Akarek. As a warrior, Draka found the house’s ways of subterfuge and stealth to be odd. She was used to taking on her foes head-on. However, with time she grew not only comfortable but extremely skilled in her spy skills. After the destruction of the House of Plagues, Margrave Akarek suspected that Maldraxxus’ purpose was in peril. He tasked Draka with taking a vital message to the House of the Chosen.

Shortly after departing on his mission, The House of Eyes exploded behind her taking her home and Margrave Akarek with it. Draka turned to her brethren around her but again found herself surrounded by turncoats. She managed to fight her way through, finally delivering her lord’s message to Margrave Krexus. The message stated, “I offer the key to saving Maldraxxus.” In confusion, Draka informs Margrave Krexus that she has no key with her. But it soon dawns upon her that Draka that Margrave Akarek believes that Draka herself is the key. Now without a home to return to, Draka joins the House of the Chosen as its Baroness to continue to protect Maldraxxus.

The Real Deal

Draka is the real deal. She was not just a sickly orc as a child, she was so weak that her family was shunned. But she did not let that keep her down. She wanted to become strong. Wanted to prove to those around her that she was more than what they saw. She set out on Mother Kashur’s mission on her own and returned a warrior. She stood by her clan and fought hard for their values and what they believed in until the very end.

Her fight didn’t end in her death. She took up arms to defend Maldraxxus and honed her skills. From the Shadowlands Afterlives cinematic we saw how she helped steal information from the Burning Legion. It goes without saying that even in death she wanted to help the ones she loved on Azeroth. When the Shadowlands fell under siege after Sylvanus joined sides with the Jailer, Draka continued to defend her people. She has sought out and purged the House of the Chosen of those who would do her friends and family harm.

Why She Matters

Draka most definitely matters. Her journey from a young sickly orc to a strong warrior queen shows us that no matter where you start in life, you are able to move up. She set out on the journey for Mother Kashur knowing there was a strong chance she could die but she also knew this was her only chance to better herself. Now of course, we aren’t suggesting to go out and face death head-on, but it is important to remember that you are strong enough to face the challenges in your life. Draka also has an undying love for her family. Everything she does is for her friends and family. Her compassion knows no bounds. She literally gave up her life so her son could live on. If she could do it all over again she would.

So be like Draka, face your challenges head-on, protect your friends and family and fight until your last breath for what you truly believe in.
