{BEWARE A TREASURE TROVE OF GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS!}

Wow. Well, that sure happened. I have to admit I did not consider the possibility that Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) would just burn all of King’s Landing and everyone in it. I knew she’d come with fire, but… just wow. Daenerys is now, truly, the queen of ashes. She has committed an unredeemable act. Her vision of the throne room while in the House of the Undying has come to pass. Only a few others are left standing. So, we have some thinking to do. Because, in the Game of Thrones series finale you win, or you die. Here are my thoughts on who will do what.
Our survivors are as follows (as far as we know): Daenerys, Drogon, Jon (Kit Harington), Davos (Liam Cunningham), Arya (Maisie Williams), Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson), Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Brienne (Gwendoline Christie), Gendry (Joe Dempsie), Sam (John Bradley) and Gilly (Hannah Murray) and little Sam, Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), Yara (Gemma Whelan) and the Ironborne on Pyke, Bronn (Jerome Flynn), Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), Ghost and whatever wildlings survived the walkers.
To be fair, Sam, Gilly, little Sam, Bran, Bronn and Tormund are not really playing the Game of Thrones. That doesn’t mean they won’t be involved. Most, if not all, will likely show up in the finale. It’s the very last episode, after all. But, their survival is not threatened by the playing of, or fighting for the players of the game like the other characters’… yet.
DAENERYS
Daenerys has become the tyrant she has always endeavored to vanquish. She’s gone full blown mad king. In fact, she is now far worse than her father ever had the chance to be. She will be opposed by Jon, Tyrion, Davos, Arya and Sansa. There’s just no way they can let this stand. How, is the question. And, will it work? If anyone is going to kill Daenerys, they have to get to Drogon first. And, they have to get past Grey Worm, who is firmly centered on the side of madness. But, I do believe she’ll die before the end of it all.
JON
Jon isn’t going to survive the last episode. I just don’t think he can. He’s not savvy enough. He’ll need Tyrion, Arya and Sansa to do some thinking for him. It’s still not enough to overcome his fatal flaw. He’s too honest. It will kill him. But, you can see that he’s come around on the whole “you will always be my queen” thing. She’s not the queen we thought she’d be. He’ll make some kind of move and die for it. Davos will go with him. He’s Daenerys’ biggest threat once she’s on the throne. And, there’s no way that’s going unnoticed. You guys… think about this. The Lord of Light brought Jon back for a reason. Beric’s reason was big. He fulfilled it and he died. What if Jon is still alive so he can take on Daenerys and die in the act? What if he’s meant to kill Drogon? He’s the only other dragon rider!
ARYA
Arya is a great candidate for mad queen-killing. She has the skills and she’s seen, first hand, how the dragon queen rules. Fire and blood are all over Arya, and she’s got a new name on her list. She STILL has not worn a face since Walder Frey and it is time to do some assassin stuff. I know she killed the Night King, and some think she can die now. Not me. She still has the Cat’s Paw dagger. She survived all of that dragon fire for something. Daenerys has green eyes in the series. Eyes shut forever. She rode off on the only other surviving creature in King’s Landing. A white horse. She has to be the one.
SANSA
Sansa has a number of problems. She was right about Daenerys. (She’s always right). Her family is stuck under the dragon queen’s thumb. She knows Jon is the rightful heir to the throne… and Daenerys knows she knows. And, worst of all… she has no army. Except Brienne, that is. The Northmen went south to fight Cersei and turned into bad guys, raping and pillaging under dragon fire. Bad news. But, wait! Tormund and the wildlings are up north. They love Jon and they will fight for him. Ghost is with them. Yara is in the Iron Islands with a small fleet and some fighting men. She has sworn for Daenerys, but after what Theon did for Bran and what Daenerys has done to all of those people… she should be an easy sell. Are wildlings and the Iron born enough of an army? Probably not. Still, Sansa cannot be stopped.
SAM
Sam is lord of Horn Hill. His brother and father were killed by the dragon queen, and he is firmly behind Jon’s claim to the throne. Does he have any power? Nah. But, if he survived the great war, it’s got to be for a reason… right? Brut force won’t unseat Daenerys storm born. Some craftiness will have to take place. Knowledge is power. Sam may have read something that could help with planning her demise. I wonder if the note that Varys (Conleth Hill) wrote, burned and then smothered will play into any of this. And, that is definitely not the first message he wrote about Jon’s parentage. How many ravens were sent? Hmmm.
TYRION
Tyrion’s life is in clear and present danger. How long will Daenerys keep him around? Not very. But, consider this. Tyrion has had a lot of well-laid plans fail. Now is his time. I think he’ll be the architect of a plan that takes Daenerys out. And, I think Bronn will come back around and fight on his side. Maybe just so he can definitely get Highgarden… but I think he’ll be back. I just need to say… Sansa is still married to Tyrion… who also has a claim to the throne as the last Lannister. Cersei was is now the usurped ruler. I mean, things are so twisted, you guys!
GENDRY
Gendry has been made Lord Baratheon of Storm’s End, by the very queen who is now ruling the ashes of King’s Landing. If he didn’t have a claim to the throne before… he does now. He’s the true born son of Robert Baratheon. A union between him and a Stark would be a pretty good challenge to the throne. Just saying. Ideally that Stark would be Arya, who’s been thrown off of the path of vengeance by the Hound (Rory McCann). But, a political union with Sansa is also possible.
BRAN
He’s still around. Might Bran have something to add when looking for ways to defeat the Targaryen queen? Do the trees hold a secret that can be used against her? Perhaps. I don’t think so… but perhaps. I do think Bran may have a role to play if, for some reason, the white walker threat still exists. Even if it’s just to say “the white walker threat still exists” at the end of the final episode.
Ultimately, I still think Sansa will take the Iron Throne before it’s all over.
WHO WILL DIE: Jon, Daenerys, Davos, Grey Worm, Drogon, Ghost (if we see him again, ugh), Yara and Bronn.
WHO WILL WIN: Sansa, Arya, Gendry, Brienne, Sam, Bran and Tyrion will live to carry on. There. I said it.
Soon whatever it is will come to pass. Get ready for the end of A Song of Ice and Fire.
