Game of Thrones season 8 is finally on the horizon for the millions of fans who tune in to watch the show. It will be the final season of the show, and already fans are asking questions about what they should expect from Game of Thrones in 2019. The show is one of the most popular to ever hit TV screens, going on to inspire merchandise, board games, video games and even a Game of Thrones slot game, amongst other things along the way, but what does the finale have in store?
The first thing to note is that following the trailer which aired last month, devotees can expect to see Season 8 of the show hit the screens in April next year. Everything in terms of recording and production is now complete, so it’s just a case of waiting for further teasers to be revealed and then settling in for what should be an epic end to one of the most gripping TV shows of all times.
There will be a different approach this time around that Game of Thrones fans will immediately notice. Season 8 itself will not have as many episodes as seen in previous seasons, with there only being a total of six. However, each of the episodes will run for longer than the usual hour that audiences have come to expect, thus meaning that the overall run length of the season will be longer.
Season 8 will also see a sort of dream team formed where directors of the show are concerned. David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will all come together to direct the show’s final six episodes. They have all been instrumental in the success of Game of Thrones over the years for their own individual reasons, and now they will split the duties to ensure viewers are able to enjoy the finale in style.
Most of us are likely to experience a bit of déjà vu when Season 8 commences, with Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow marching towards Winterfell backed by an army. At the beginning of the Game of Thrones series itself, viewers saw King Robert Baratheon marching on to Winterfell to meet up with Eddard Stark. This saw a series of gripping events take place that had a huge impact on Westeros, so it’s likely that similar can be expected once again.
The battle between the Starks and the Lannisters has been ongoing since the very first season of Game of Thrones, and it will undoubtedly come to a head in the final series of the show. Cersai, who is pulling all the strings for the Lannister family, is giving everyone the impression she’s out to unite against the White Walkers, but deaths and betrayals should be expected, especially as Stark girls Sansa and Arya have big scores to settle with her.
There’s so much to come from Game of Thrones in Season 8 and it’s so easy to see why it’s the most anticipated TV show in many a year. While people may feel they know what to expect, the likelihood is there are going to be shocks and huge moments along the way that nobody prepared for. One thing is for sure, Game of Thrones will go out with a bang and signal the end of what has been an epic journey.
