Quite honestly my first reaction to this picture was pure excitement. I know there’s been a lot of back and forth about casting Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, but Batman v Superman hasn’t been released yet so I can’t speculate. I thought Heath Ledger was an odd choice for The Joker and he nailed it. I was wrong, I can admit that. So my hope is that we have the strong, female led superhero movie that knocks it out of the park and we can let the tired argument of “Superhero movies won’t work with a female lead” rest.
There is a generation of women out there (my generation) who grew up with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and because of that fell in love with comics and science fiction and dressed up in red, white and blue leotards, wore gold cuffs, grabbed the closest thing to a lasso we could find and spun around and around, hoping to have the same super powers! We are ready for this movie!
And please Target, when the movie comes out, please don’t put Chris Pine’s character in a Wonder Woman box and say it’s Wonder Woman. Please put the lady herself in there. It’s the decent thing to do. Also, P.S. I can’t wait to buy a Wonder Woman action figure!
