Ghost Rider is riding back to television, this time on the streaming giant Hulu. According to Variety, Hulu has greenlit the Marvel series, bringing back Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider.
The new series is a co-production of Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios with Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, executive producing the show. Ingrid Escajeda will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Paul Zbyszewski also executive producing.
Luna was cast as Reyes for the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in season four. He teamed up with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to help bring down a rogue artificial life form and her unlimited power. Reyes left on good terms with the agents, leaving the door open for a possible return. According to the site, the new series will not be a continuation of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character, but instead a new version of Robbie Reyes.
Ghost Rider is just the latest series greenlit by Hulu and Marvel. Helstrom, Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K, Hit-Monkey, and Tigra and Dazzler are also in development for Hulu. The teen drama, Runaways was recently renewed for its third season.
Fans can expect the new Ghost Rider series to debut in 2020.
