FX is renewing What We Do in the Shadows for a second season, according to THR. The show is based on 2014 film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi of the same name and is currently in its first season on FX.

The mockumentary follows a group of vampires and their familiar living on Staten Island. What We Do in the Shadows stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén and Mark Proksch. Clement is credited as the series creator and producer with Waititi, Paul Simms, Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush.

“Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi and [showrunner] Paul Simms have more than delivered on the high expectations of Shadows fans by adapting the cult classic for television and building a passionate base of new and returning fans,” FX president of original programming Nick Grad said Tuesday in a statement. “We also want to thank the rest of the creative team, including Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush, and the incredible cast and crew for delivering such a fun and original series, and we look forward to working with them all on season two.”

The show is funny. The documentary style filming is steady and the vampires adjusted well modern New York life. They even had a street fight with werewolves. If you ask me, Harvey Guillén steals the show as human familiar Guillermo, but the entire cast has something unique to offer at every sunset. I especially like that they have an energy vampire and have introduced other kinds of vampires in the series. It’s ridiculous. You should check it out.

What We Do in the Shadows airs Wednesday nights on FX. Check your local listings for times.
