The Future Is Furious

What a lovely day … for the first official trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures dropped said trailer during CCXP 2023, along with three first-look photos and a poster that glitters like gold.

Here’s a synopsis of the highly anticipated origin story from George Miller

“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

Anya Taylor-Joy stars as the titular Furiosa. We previously met the older version of the character, played by Charlize Theron, in the 2015 dystopian epic Mad Max: Fury Road. Taylor-Joy is joined by Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus. Rounding out the cast are Tom Burke and Alyla Browne.

Decades in the Making

George Miller is at the helm again for Furiosa. He penned the script with Fury Road co-writer Nico Lathouris. The filmmaker created this iconic dystopian universe more than four decades ago, starting with 1979’s Mad MaxMad Max 2: The Road Warrior premiered in 1981, with Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome debuting four years later in 1985. There’s a 30-year gap between Beyond Thunderdome and Fury Road

I’m so damn excited to revisit this immersive, visually stunning and gritty world of Miller’s creation. It’s a film nerd’s dream. I’m equally tickled that Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL, will compose another undoubtedly banging score.
