Morgan SS

When the original teaser for Morgan appeared it seemed to be yet another cautionary tale on the perils of Artificial Intelligence.  With the first full length trailer we now know that is not entirely true.

Morgan is “bioengineered with synthetic DNA” and now I’m not sure what is worse.  To clarify, there’s no problem with artificial intelligence (AI) or with combining technology with living flesh, we are heading towards both those futures.  I don’t even have an issue with bioengineering, to a degree.  My problem, and the reason we keep getting these horrifying cautionary tales, is creating something new and unique then locking the product of the experiment away and treating them like a lab rat.

Keeping sentient beings in a cage, performing experiments on them, and acting like it’s ok is never going to go well in the long run.  That’s really the message from these amazing movies.  That, or maybe we shouldn’t attempt to play God.  Spent so long trying to figure out if we could, we didn’t stop to think if we should.

Morgan hits theaters on September 2, 2016.

A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
