This week, we got a look at the upcomingYouTube Red Original Series, Good Game. The creators behind the series are Dan Avidan and Arin Hanson, who are widely known as the Game Grumps. They have been teasing out their YouTube Red series for sometime. Now, we finally get a look into what they themselves, and Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon (executive producer on the show) have developed.
In the YouTube description, the summary of Good Game is as follows:
An eternal optimist (Dan Avidan) and a miserable slacker (Arin Hanson) recruit a team of misfits to take on the esports establishment by competing for a spot in the biggest KILLCORE tournament of the year— BLOOD MATCH.
Overall, Good Game feels like the combination of the popular web-series The Guild, mixed with the flavor of Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. I believe we can expect lots of laughs, good ol’ human perseverance, and heart from the series. Additionally, the esports community remains a circle that hasn’t recieved a ton of main stream media focus. It will be interesting to see if esports interest increases after the show airs. Or rather, will Good Game only cater to those who are familiar with the spectator sport? One can only speculate until August 30, when the series premiers! It will be six episodes long, and will be available to YouTube Red subscribers.
Good Game premieres August 30th.
