Twentieth Century Fox dropped the trailer for Ryan Reynolds’ new film Free Guy at CCXP in Brazil today. The audience was already hyped as they had given Reynolds a standing ovation when he entered the room. The trailer for Free Guy is hilarious, whimsical and violent. Those are three words that I didn’t think I’d ever use to describe a film so, thanks Ryan Reynolds.

In Free Guy, Reynolds is a bank teller, named Guy, who is happy, carefree and completely oblivious to the violent and crazy world around him. He eventually discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game. He then decides to become the hero of his own story and be not just a good guy but a “great guy.” He ‘s determined to be the guy to save the world before it’s too late.

The trailer’s beginning is very tongue-in-cheek and could only be done now that Fox and Disney have merged. I won’t spoil that for you. As the trailer moves forward, it shows Guy making the discovery of his true self as he endures a bank robbery for the umpteenth time. Reynolds take on it is pure Ryan Reynolds’ – dry, adorable and hilarious. He then meets other characters in the game including the fabulous Jodie Comer (Killing Eve). Taika Waititi and Joe Keery (Stranger Things) also star.
