One of the more intriguing aspects of Ant-Man and The Wasp is it’s villain. We don’t know all that much about her but what we do know is that she’s going to make life really hard for Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). We have 4 new photos, thanks to Marvel, one of which is a behind the scenes shot. The photos highlight this mysterious figure and gives us at least some answers.

One of the images tells us a lot! And now that we’ve seen it, we know that Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) wants Pym’s lab. Currently in it’s shrunken size, as seen in the first trailer, the photo shows her fighting for possession of it over van Dyne. We have no indication as to why she wants it, but if I may stick out my nose a bit, I believe it has to do with Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglas) research on the Quantum Realm.

Producer Stephen Broussard spoke to Comicbook.com about Ghost, citing that the character was so much fun to work with.

We thought that was a cool opportunity to create a character that was all about mystery and kind of, ‘What are the origins? and ‘What is the backstory? What is the goals and agendas of this person?’ It was a great vehicle for the kind of the story you wanted to tell because Ghost in the comics itself was a mystery. So she’s very different from what has come before in the comics but in ways that kind of…Suffice it to say that she is on a path and she is on a mission at odds with our heroes on this journey but of a similar goal, of a similar aim, at the worst possible time for Scott Lang.

He also noted that the suit is comic book accurate, specifically wanting to include the hood. Because when you think of Ghost, you think of the hood. And he added John-Kamen was really, really bada** in the role. So, we can’t help but keep our hopes up for a good villain.

One of the things that Marvel has struggled with is it’s villains. The heroes are heroic but flawed, whereas the villains have been there as their punching bag. With notable exception to Loki and now Thanos, the villains don’t have motivations that make us care. With Ghost, I’m really hoping that she’s more than just a phasing, mysterious and cool figure. We need depth to her. I want to care about why she’s trying to steal Pym tech. I also wanna know if she’s found Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) cause I can’t wait to see her.
