We got big news from Apple TV and showrunner David S. Goyer today! Their adaptation of Isaac Asimov‘s Foundation has been picked up for a second season! Goyer had shared previously that he was hoping that the series would go on for eight seasons. And this renewal just puts us closer to his ultimate goal. And I couldn’t be happier!
We are three episodes into the first season of Foundation and as someone who has never read the novels, I am fully invested. It follows revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), who predicts the impending fall of the Empire. Seldon and a band of loyal followers venture out to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish an organization known as The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. However, the ruling Cleons fear their unrivaled reign may be weakening and are forced to fight back.

But the series has quickly become more than that as they navigate space and time as they overcome deadly disasters, changing loyalties and complicated relationships. I promise just one episode in and Foundation will have you hooked. And while Asimov’s original novels may have left quite a few of us somewhat confused, the adaptation has helped clear up a few of the more complicated plotlines. The series stars Harris, Lee Pace, Terrance Mann, Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey.
I am curious who will make it to season two of Foundation and what stories we will see. I am sure we will have a better idea once we have reached the end of season one. If you have started the show, we highly recommend it! It airs every Friday on Apple TV. What do you think a season two? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
