Well, I have another show to add to my Winter Geeky Television Premiere Dates! This one is called Fortitude and stars Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who, The Leftovers), Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games, plus a ridiculously long resume), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, Doctor Who plus another ridiculously long resume), Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones), Jessica Raine and a string of Scandinavian actors including Sofie Gråbøl who was in the original Danish version of The Killing.
Fortitude is based in a town called, well, Fortitude. A perfect town where nothing bad ever happens and then something does. Common theme, yet this time around there seems to be good writers, producers and actors involved AND a setting that is unknown to us. The super cold Svalbard.
Fortitude was created by Simon Donald (The Deep, Low Winter Sun) and will be available on January 29th in the US on Pivot. (In the UK, the show will be aired on Sky Atlantic) Here’s the official synopsis via IMDB:
