Universal Pictures has finally dropped the very first trailer for their espionage thriller, The 355. The film follows four female operatives who band together against enemy mercenaries. The unnamed group have gotten their hands on a top-secret weapon and intend on kicking off World War III. American CIA agent Mason Brown (Jessica Chastain) heads this group alongside German agent Marie (Diane Kruger), M16 agent Khadijah (Lupita Nyong’o) and Columbia psychologist Graciela (Penelope Cruz). We also see Chinese agent Lin Mi Sheng (Fan Bingbing), who is following the group’s every move.

The 355 trailer is action packed from beginning to end. It reminds me heavily of a mix between James Bond and Mission Impossible. We see everything from spy equipment, undercover missions, heavy weapons and everything else you would expect in an espionage film. Between the heavy action scenes and the haunting rendition of Jay Z and Rihanna‘s “Who’s Gonna Run This Town Tonight,” this trailer delivers on the hype. We even see a moment that shows how the group’s race against the unnamed mercenaries are affecting their home lives. This gives the ladies more character depth outside of just kicking mercenary butt.

Alongside the all star female cast, The 355 will also star Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramírez. It was written by Theresa Rebeck and directed by Simon Kinberg. Chastain and Kinberg are producing as well. The trailer shares that The 355 will hit theaters on January 15, 2020. Check out the first trailer below and brand-new poster art! Official Studio Summary: A dream team of formidable female stars come together in a hard-driving original approach to the globe-trotting espionage genre in The 355. When a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, wild card CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown (Jessica Chastain) will need to join forces with rival badass German agent Marie (Diane Kruger), former MI6 ally and cutting-edge computer specialist Khadijah (Lupita Nyong’o), and skilled Colombian psychologist Graciela (Penélope Cruz) on a lethal, breakneck mission to retrieve it, while also staying one-step ahead of a mysterious woman, Lin Mi Sheng (Fan Bingbing), who is tracking their every move. As the action rockets around the globe from the cafes of Paris to the markets of Morocco to the wealth and glamour of Shanghai, the quartet of women will forge a tenuous loyalty that could protect the world — or get them killed.
