If you’ve never heard of the TellTale video game series, but you love Guardians of the Galaxy — and, c’mon, you know you do — then it’s time you learned about these games.
TellTale video games basically put you, the player, in charge of the video game story. They are typically more basic in their gameplay and action sequences, making it more about your control of the story than any button mashing action pieces. That is, the game in any TellTale series is the weighing of story options more so than defeating any one enemy.
They’ve taken on The Walking Dead and Batman previously, and now they’re taking on The Guardians of the Galaxy. They announced it a couple months ago, but this is our first trailer for the game. In it, we learn that Thanos has attacked the Nova Corps and they are calling in their pals, the Guardians, to come in and help them out. Star-Lord, in perfect Star-Lord fashion, seems undisturbed by this news and quickly straps on his boots and grabs his Awesome Mix to hit the spaceways with his fellow teammates.
We even get characteristically accurate banter from the team when Star-Lord complains about the speed of their elevator, which Drax does not understand. Just about the only criticism we have of the trailer here is that we hear literally every male character shown speak, but we don’t hear a peep from Gamora. Though we do see some pretty awesome moves from her as she jumps over a dude and no doubt slays the cheese whiz out of him.
The game is available for download April 18th with a season pass for the remaining four chapters released available May 2nd, just in time for the film’s release on May 4th!
