When someone mentions to me that they have heard news about the upcoming Sony Pictures Uncharted film, I immediately brace myself for another casting change or delay. But this time there is no need to be scared friends! We finally have more good news! Tom Holland and Nolan North have taken to Instagram to share images from the set! This is the first time we are getting to see Holland all decked out as Nathan Drake as well as a shot with North.

The images were shared after North toured the Uncharted set in Spain. North previously provided the voice and motion capture for Nathan Drake in the video games. He shared on his own Instagram how happy he is that Holland is taking over the mantle of Drake. He wished him all the luck when it comes to the “half tuck”. For those unfamiliar with the series, this in reference to Nathan Drake’s half-tucked shirt, which has been discussed in detail over the years.

The Uncharted movie has been adapted from Naughty Dog‘s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. More specifically, it will follow the sequence in which Drake flashbacks to his younger years where he first meets his partner Victor Sullivan. This is just a small bit of the game but is such a big part of Drake’s history. Sully is more than his partner, but his teacher, friend and father figure. It will be interesting to see how the adventure is expanded on for a feature-length film.

Uncharted stars Holland alongside Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas and Tati Gabrielle. It is currently set to be released on July 16, 2021. Be sure to check back in with us for more exciting news!
