It’s been a couple months since we’ve seen or heard anything about Hulu’s first Marvel series, The Runaways. The actual last news we heard was regarding the trailer that showed at the TCA earlier this year and that the series would tackle some pretty heavy political and social issues. However, other than that, the series has been hiding somewhere in the shadows, just out of reach for all of us fans eager to see what they’ve cooked up at Hulu.

But maybe, just maybe, there’s a ray of sunshine to ride here because EW has released eight ‘first look’ images of the series. The images don’t give anything away in terms of plot or story, but they do give us our first individual looks at the kids — Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin), Molly Hernandez (Allegra Acosta), Gertie Yorkes (Ariela Barer), Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner), Nico Minoru (Lyrica Okano), and team leader, Alex Wilder (Rhenzy Feliz).

However, what we do absolutely see here is our first look at the primary villains of the story — their parents. The parents of The Runaways are all part of a villainous cabal known simply as The Pride. It’s composed of time-travelers Dale (Kevin Weisman) and Stacey Yorkes (Brigid Brannagh), brilliant engineers Janet (Ever Carradine) and Victor Stein (James Masters), sorcerers Tina (Brittany Ishibashi) and Robert Minoru (James Yaegashi), extraterrestrial ex-pats Frank (Kip Pardue) and Leslie Dean (Annie Wersching), and the brilliant tacticians Catherine (Angel Parker) and Geoffrey Wilder (Ryan Sands).

The basic plot of the story, at least in the source comics, is that the main kids all grow up around each other due to how close their families are. That is, essentially, a couple times a year their parents all get together for something like a hang out game night or something. The kids all know each other through their parents and, while they don’t hate each other, their friendships are a little forced and manufactured due to their parents insistence on getting together.

That all changes when they discover that their parents are actually all supervillains trying to take over the world. Oh, also, there’s the reveal that none of these kids are what they seem. That is, one is a time-traveler from the future, one is a sorcerer, one is an alien — you get the point.

There’s no date yet for a premiere, but whatever the date is, even if it’s next week, it can’t come soon enough!
