Netflix is giving us a peek behind the veil of the Grishaverse with the first look at images from Shadow and Bone. The images were shared exclusively through Entertainment Weekly and reveal the show’s major characters. The official Twitter for Shadow and Bone also shared six character posters for us to ogle over as well! The series is based on the best-selling novels from Leigh Bardugo, who is also serving as executive producer alongside Eric Heisserer.

The high fantasy series follows a war-torn world where a lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) has unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. In the series, we will watch as Alina trains to be a part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. She was torn from everything she knew as the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looms closer. She will learn that nothing in this lavish world is truly what it seems.
The EW images introduce us to eight key characters including Alina Starkov, Malyen Oretsev (Archie Renaux), General Kirigan (Ben Barnes), Jesper Fahey (Kit Young), Inej Ghafa (Amita Suman), Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter), Nina Zenik (Danielle Galligan) and Matthias Helvar (Calahan Skogman).
