Director Bryan Singer released this first look at Nightcrawler yesterday for the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalpyse. The iconic character who can transport from place to place is played by young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee and he looks great.

Though, it doesn’t really sound like the iconic bamf we’ve come to love from the comics, it’s just a preview video, not the actual film, so we can’t really judge their handling of the character just yet.

You might remember Nightcrawler from what is still, quite possibly, one of the best super power sequences in a comic book movie yet when, in X-Men 2, the character, played by Alan Cummings, teleported into the White House and then attacked the President — under mind control of course. That was directed by the same director, Bryan Singer, so he’s proven he knows how to handle the character.

If you’re questioning the outfit in any way, just remember, this is set in the 1980’s and will also star Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, plus franchise mainstays Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy returning in their roles.

The film comes out in May, 2016.
