You will never forget your first kill. And Netflix’s new trailer for their upcoming adaptation of V.E. Schwab’s short story of the same name, First Kill, reminds us of that. The series follows a star-crossed lovers-like story between vampire Juliet Fairmont (Sarah Catherine Hook) and the monster hunter Calliope “Cal” Burns (Imani Lewis). They are destined to hate one another. However, the two can’t seem to keep away from each other.

The trailer of First Kill gives us backstory into Juliet and Cal’s lives. Cal comes from a family of elite monster hunters who take their jobs very seriously. Knowing that their daughter is ready, they jump at the opportunity to send Cal out for her first kill. Juliet finds herself in a similar situation. Her body is changing as her vampire side begins to take over. Juliet’s parents know that the only way for her to deal with the shift is to partake in her first kill.

But things take a turn towards trouble when Juliet falls hard for Cal and the two begin a relationship. Now it is a fight between the vampires and the hunters and the two are forced to choose sides. Will they follow their family’s orders, or will they turn against everything they know for each other? The star-crossed lovers’ story is a tale as old as time and this twist with a vampire and a hunter has been seen before. But that doesn’t take away from our excitement. Plus, First Kill provides us with a coming-of-age/coming-out story we are sure to love.

First Kill stars Hook and Lewis alongside Elizabeth Mitchell, Will Swenson, Aubion Wise, Gracie Dzienny, Dylan McNamara, Dominic Goodman, MK xyz, Jonas Dylan Allen, Roberto Mendez, Phillip Mullings Jr. and Jason Robert Moore.

Are you prepared for your first kill? The series is set to drop on Netflix starting June 10, 2022. Check out the full trailer below! What are your thoughts on the adaptation? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
