Guys, I got chills. We got our first look at Black Panther and sweet Jesus it was wonderful. The trailer debuted during the NBA Finals, giving us our first look at the beauty of Wakanda. The malice of it’s villain. And the high stakes they’ll be playing in.
The trailer opens with Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) being interrogated by Everett K Ross (Martin Freeman). He explains that Wakanda isn’t some third world country in South America, no. It’s in Africa and it’s thriving more than anyone can imagine. We’re shown images of the Wakandan people standing on cascading rocks, celebrating what looks to be an upcoming fight. We even see that they have incredible technology that includes a ship that rivals the Helicarrier. Klaue admits he’s the only one who’s seen it and lived.
We get to see just how incredible Black Panther’s (Chadwick Boseman) suit is. It’s made out of vibranium of course so an assault rifle round does so little to him. We then get to see Wakanda’s skyline, vast towers reaching for the sky. But they maintain tradition, as Zuri (Forest Whitaker) leads children in what looks to be some sort of ritual. A terrorist group led by Erik Killmonger (Michael B Jordan) breakes Klaue out of the interogation.

We’re then bombared with a flurry of scenes. An explosion to break Klaue out. Okoye (Danai Gurira) demolishing her combatants with a pike. T’Challa handing himself in to Killmonger. Klaue firing a rather large handgun where T’Challa address the Nations. A very angry Killmonger being lead away, bound. A slick suited man with a lip disk to match. The Dora Milaje looking super dope; yes to more female warriors!
We get to see the throne room in action, holding counsel of some sort. We also see what looks to be Ramonda (Angela Bassett) leading Ross somewhere in the mountains. Killmonger fights T’Challa in an epic slo-mo dual. We also see that Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) will get in on the action, rocking what looks to be disks. And we see Shuri (Letitia Wright) wielding giant blasters, custom with a panther design of course. It all summarizes with Black Panther flipping around on cars – something we know he excels at already.
“The world is changing. Soon there will only be the conquered. And the conquerors.” And my mind has officially been conquered. I’m sold. With “Legend Has It” by Run The Jewels playing, it pumps me up even further for this movie.
