It’s here. The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has debuted and we’re pretty emotional about it. This could potentially be the last time we see any of these characters on film again. Are we ready for the end of the saga?

The trailer starts with an epic montage of Rey training as hard as she can. In the jungle, in an abandoned ship, wherever she can. Speaking of the jungle, The Resistance is starting to build back up again in the seclusion of the jungle and they’re planning on taking The First Order on, for a last stand. “Good people will fight if we lead them”. We see Rose, Finn, Poe, and some new faces around.

Meanwhile Rey is torn. “People keep telling me they know me,” she laments. “No one does,” she hardens her words. A familiar voice answers her. “But I do,” we hear Kylo Ren say as we see him emerge from a wave in an epic shot of them facing off.

We’re treated to visual feasts of new planets, starships facing off, even Star Destroyers emerging from the ground. The trailer promises one of the biggest battles we’ve seen in the Star Wars saga as it looks like they are merging The First Order and the Empire facing off against the free people of the Republic.

How is the Empire back you ask? Well it might have something to do with the Emperor’s reappearance. We hear him speak and even see a glimpse of him, in his hooded robe as his seat mechanically moves closer to Rey. Just how is he back?!

Other highlights of the trailer include C3PO saying he’s “taking one last look…at [his] friends” (what do you mean, C3PO?!), a herd of Orbaks being led by Jannah and Finn on the deck of a Star Destroyer, Kylo and Rey both destroying the pedestal that Darth Vader’s helmet sits on (?!), the trailer ending with Leia saying “Always”, and so much more. Ah! We could talk about this trailer all day.

To make this even more special, today would have been Carrie Fisher‘s 63rd birthday. What a send off for our eternal princess and general, don’t you think?
