During Super Bowl LIV, Mulan debuted its final trailer in epic style. The latest Disney live action remake has been promising a lot of action to go with its emotional story that’s sure to tug on heart strings. In the final trailer, we see that she’s just as worthy, if not more so, to be in the army defending her nation and her family.

The trailer starts with a little more information regarding the villain, Bori Khan (Jason Scott Lee). He’s been decimating Northern cities to get closer and closer to the Empire. His end goal? Take out the Imperial City so that he may get revenge for his father. However, there’s one thing standing in his way – a young girl named Hua Mulan (Liu Yifei). She’s ready to risk it all in order to save everything and everyone she loves.

Now, what I love about this trailer is we get another glimpse into the relationship between Mulan and Xian Lang (Gong Li), the powerful witch. It looks like there’s a mutual respect between the two women, despite being on different sides of the war. I really hope it’s going in that direction and it’s not just a tease. In the same token, they don’t seem to be showing off the love interest at all. It’s rather strange but a welcome change nonetheless. Let’s focus on her being the bada** warrior she is!

In addition, some other fun things I noticed in the trailer is that it looks like there’s going to be an avalanche, just like in the animated film. Not to mention, the trailer music sounded a bit more traditional than the previous teasers had, which is a hopeful sign that we’ll be able to hear traditional Chinese music throughout the film. We’ll have to wait and see!
