Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles fans rejoice! Today we received some great news via Twitter.

That’s right, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is making its triumphant return on both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The game, first released in February 2004 for the Nintendo GameCube, will be getting a remastered edition and a 2019 release.

This news bodes well for fans of the series. We know that Square Enix is working on a complete remake of Final Fantasy VII, but with the release of Crystal Chronicles, this hopefully marks the beginning of other remastered Crystal Chronicles games. Or perhaps we will see other games in the Final Fantasy series get the remastered treatment. Personally I’m pulling for Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

The release of this game makes sense for the Nintendo Switch. The original game, much like The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure, required multiple GameBoy Advance systems to be connected to the GameCube with link cables in order to play multiplayer. With the portability of the Switch and local wireless play, Nintendo Switch players will be able to enjoy their Crystal Chronicles on the go. As for how it will work on the PS4, we can assume that it will be like any other multiplayer game with players joining a single party session.
