I’m not going to pretend to like Fifty Shades of Grey or Fifty Shades Darker or whatever the third part is called. The entire story glorifies an abusive, controlling relationship and there is nothing sexy about it. Unfortunately the main guy character, Christian Grey, is rich and handsome so apparently that makes this behavior ok in the minds of many people. (Read the last sentence as heavy sarcasm).
This looks to be more of the same horrible crap masquerading as consensual and healthy BDSM. Let’s be clear here, if someone wants to own you, follow you, control you then it’s not a healthy relationship, BDSM or otherwise. The way this story depicts so many things is so horrible.
Then again, the books are fan fiction that sprang from, The Twilight Saga, which, unsurprisingly enough, is also a tale about a very unhealthy relationship so not sure what I expect.
At any rate, here is the synopsis, trailer and the official poster is below.
When a wounded Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.
Fifty Shades Darker hit theaters on February 10, 2017. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, because nothing says I love you quite like a controlling, abusive relationship. (Again, read that with sarcasm)
