It is February, and we’ve got five new games you’ll love playing. Of course, with February being the month of love, there is one genre of games that we adore — horror. Oh, what? You thought we would say “cutesy dating sims”? Well, not today, as we focus on the other game genre that makes our hearts pitter-patter.
Here are five new horror games you’ll love playing in February (and beyond).
Silent Hill: The Short Message
25 years after the release of the first Silent Hill game, fans got a special surprise celebration with the release of Silent Hill: The Short Message. This story-rich narrative adventure has a deep psychological aspect and a new protagonist. Following messages from her friend Maya, Anita finds herself at a crumbling apartment block infamous for rumors of suicides. Drawn inside, Anita soon finds her sense of reality shattered as she encounters bizarre, otherworldly spaces haunted by a twisted monster. The whole experience is just under two hours, but did we mention this game is free?
You can play Silent Hill: The Short Message on PlayStation 5.

Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3
Need a little playtime? Mob Entertainment is back with one of the most successful indie-horror franchises of all time for another round with their scariest creation yet. A monster known as Catnap has been spotted stalking the decrepit halls of Playcare. You must navigate this haunted place, solving new puzzles and avoiding the nightmares lurking in the dark. Answers lie between the blood-stained bedsheets and screaming echoes… If you can survive.

Chiyo
Chiyo is a first-person hardcore escape room horror game set in Japan’s Edo era with a storytelling-driven focus. As Idate Chiyo, a paranormal investigator possessing supernatural abilities, you are tasked with investigating an abandoned mansion and unveiling a family’s dark history and its ultimate secret. There is a focus on puzzle mechanics, but they never overpower the narrative as they are thematic and woven into the storytelling. The voice acting and sound design also go a long way in adding to the game’s atmosphere, so be sure to turn up the volume.
You can play Chiyo from developer Nimbus Games and SCRYsoft on Steam here.
