“February is always a bad month for TV sports,” Hunter S. Thompson wrote. “Football is gone, basketball is plodding along in the annual midseason doldrums, and baseball is not even mentioned.” Fortunately for us geeks, it’s shaping up to be an excellent month for video games! To help you gamers sort through the deluge of releases, we at Geek Girl Authority decided to highlight all of the February video games and their release dates. This article will cover the first half of this month’s releases. So without further ado, let’s get started with Part One!
Life is Strange: Remastered Collection
Thankfully, Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is on schedule for all platforms except Nintendo Switch. The remastered Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm were initially scheduled to release last September alongside the critically-acclaimed Life is Strange: True Colors. The original episodic adventure game and its prequel follow childhood best friends Max and Chloe in the fictional Oregon town of Arcadia Bay. The remaster updates visuals with facial motion capture, a complete lighting overhaul and a brand new game engine. If you’re looking to play a Life is Strange game for the first time, looking to dive in further into the franchise after True Colors, or just wanting to revisit your favorite characters, Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is the perfect excuse.
Life is Strange: Remastered Collection releases on February 1, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Google Stadia.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human
Another game release seeing delays on the Switch is Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Don’t worry, Nintendo fans: Techland promises that the Switch version will release by August 4, 2022, at the latest. In the meantime, the rest of us can enjoy the digital edition of this parkour-infused open-world zombie RPG. In addition to new co-op gameplay, Techland bragged that Dying Light 2 is so big that gamers will need at least 500 hours to play every quest and collect every collectible. And that’s not even counting the post-launch DLC set to roll out for the next five years. So watch out, completionists: if you want Platinum that badly, you’re looking at a minimum of four months!
Dying Light 2: Stay Human releases on February 4, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Maglam Lord
Originally released to Japanese markets back in March 2021, Maglam Lord is finally coming to North America and Europe! In this unique hybrid of JRPG and dating simulator, the player takes on the role of the Demon Lord. With the mythical Demon Lord’s body as a living weapon, you can craft and customize weapons for fast-paced hack-and-slash combat. But saving the endangered Demons from extinction will require more than power and battles. It also requires … love! Build relationships with your allies, and find your one true soulmate in the Dating Dojo. If turning into a mighty blade or winning the heart of a prospective partner appeals to you, then this demonic antihero story might be for you!
Maglam Lord releases on February 4, 2022, for PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
OlliOlli World
The OlliOlli games are notoriously tricky to master. In this 2.5D side-scrolling platformer, you skateboard your way to the other end of a course. All while performing as many tricks and combos as possible. With five distinct areas in the world of Radlandia to play through, OlliOlli World makes gameplay more approachable for new gamers by making the challenges player-motivated. You need twitch-fast response times if you want to get the truly high scores! Two DLC expansions are planned for a later 2022 release. Whether you are interested in skateboarding or platformer games, hardcore gamers and new gamers alike will get a thrill from this skating series.
OlliOlli World releases on February 8, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and the Nintendo Switch.
Sifu
Sifu is a stylish brawler, inspired by the rapid-fire fighting of Chinese martial arts film stars like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. The player takes the role of a young kung-fu practitioner. When mafia bosses kill his family, he goes on a quest for revenge. It is the action movie fantasy of one versus many. Sifu‘s developer, Sloclap, has drawn criticism for being a team of primarily white developers working on a game centered on Asian characters and cultures. We at Geek Girl Authority, like most gamers and critics, are trying to stay cautiously optimistic. Despite an evident lack of inclusivity on the dev team, the trailers and gameplay videos demonstrate positive representation of Chinese characters and martial arts, as pointed out by Khee Hoon Chan at The Gamer.
And the martial arts are Sifu‘s biggest selling point. Every punch and kick is matched with visceral animations and sound design. Every blow looks and sounds as natural as possible. Both the game’s creative director and martial arts consultant took inspiration from Pak Mei: one of the most aggressive Chinese martial art forms. Matching realistic animations with ruthless choreography makes for exhilarating gameplay. Hopefully, Sifu‘s reception will encourage gamers to take a genuine and respectful interest in Chinese martial arts and encourage the video game industry as a whole to support Asian game devs and studio leads.
Sifu releases on February 8, 2022, for PC, PS4 and PS5.

CrossfireX
CrossfireX is the latest entry into Smilegate’s first-person shooter franchise. CrossfireX’s run-and-gun gameplay comes complete with a campaign and multiplayer modes for all you Call of Duty fans looking for a new franchise to play. In addition to a Zombies-style map (Babylon Lab), CrossfireX also features a sort of 1 vs. all mode, with one player (the titular “Boogieman”) hunting down the enemy mercenaries. Sadly, CrossfireX is an Xbox console exclusive with no PC release. Smilegate has not stated any plans for any other platform releases after launch. In addition, the single-player narrative campaign mode is going to be sold separately.
CrossfireX releases on February 10, 2022, for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix/ Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix/ Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue/ Kingdom Hearts III
Rejoice Kingdom Hearts fans because a whole lot of the Disney action JRPG is finally coming to Nintendo Switch! First, there’s Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, which includes the final mix for the first Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix includes the final mix for the critically-acclaimed Kingdom Hearts II, the final mix of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (which is a bit of a misnomer to name the prologue a “final chapter”?) contains Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance in high definition, Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, and Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover (χ is the Greek letter “Chi,” pronounced as “Key”). A Fragmentary Passage is a new game where you play as Aqua as she journeys alone through the Realm of Darkness. Back Cover is an hour-long cinematic film set centuries before the first Kingdom Hearts. Before the first conflict between light and darkness.
Kingdom Hearts III is the conclusion of the villainous Xehanort’s saga. Sora again reunites with Donald Duck, Goofy, Riku, and King Mickey. Their goal is to prevent Xehanort’s plan to ignite a Second Keyblade War. Easily the most expansive Kingdom Hearts game to date, fast and fluid combat add to a story with answers to the franchise’s biggest questions.
All of the above Kingdom Hearts titles release on February 10, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch.
Lost Ark
Building on the success of last year’s New World MMO, Amazon is releasing a Western localization of 2018’s Lost Ark. You can get early access to this free-to-play Korean action role-playing game by buying a “Founder’s Pack” (the cheapest is $14.99). Reminiscent of Black Desert Online, Lost Ark looks gorgeous and boasts impressive character creation. The player community in Korea is famous for its genuine appreciation for Lost Ark’s developers. They sent fan mail and a care package to Smilegate’s studio when the game devs seemed overworked! Hopefully, some of that gratitude rubs off on some gaming communities in North America.
Lost Ark releases to early access on February 8, 2022, for PC, with the official PC launch on February 11, 2022.
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires
Arguably the best Dynasty Warriors game so far is Dynasty Warriors 9. Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires brings a new strategy expansion to the unique hack-and-slash retelling of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Empires takes the 90 playable characters that Dynasty Warriors 9 is famous for and throws them into diplomatic negotiations and siege battles of Shakespearean proportions. Whose banner will you unite China under? Will you play as the iconic Zhao Yun and fight for the Shu Han? Will you fight alongside the powerful but traitorous Lu Bu? Or do you prefer the one-eyed Xiahou Dun and fighting for the Cao Wei?
Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires releases on February 15, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and the Nintendo Switch.
Star Wars: The Old Republic – Legacy of the Sith
Star Wars: The Old Republic (or “SWTOR” as it is affectionately known) celebrated its tenth anniversary last December, and the Star Wars MMORPG shows no signs of slowing down. The highly-anticipated Legacy of the Sith expansion will be a free update to all SWTOR subscribers. The story continues to follow the third war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire (roughly 3,626 years before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope), as it spreads to new battlefields like the oceanic world of Manaan. Meanwhile, Darth Malgus searches for a mysterious artifact in the ruins of a Sith fortress on Elom. But for what purpose? The expansion also increases the level cap from 75 to 80. In addition, more skill and weapon customization options for classes with the new “Combat Styles.” There is no better time to travel back to that iconic galaxy, far, far away!
Star Wars: The Old Republic – Legacy of the Sith releases on February 15, 2022, for PC.
