It’s another year and another foray into Fest of Winter Veil in Azeroth. The game is now 12 years old, yes 12, and I wish I could remember when Feast started but a quick search yields no results. I can’t remember a time without it so maybe it did start in 2004 and it is also 12 years old, guess we can go with that one. Long and short of it, the winter event hasn’t changed too much since inception and this year is no different. Sure, things are tweaked, additions are made, the annual gift is unique and comes with a Feat of Strength, sometimes things are removed. But, all in all, it’s more or less the same even it’s always been.
Starting on December 16, the event runs through January 2 when it will disappear for another turn around the sun. This year’s annual present will be one based around Blizzard’s newest game, Overwatch, giving the gift of the Endothermic Blaster, Mei’s weapon of choice. Greatfather Winter will now spin around the Broken Isles wishing everyone good cheer. A snow globe has been added to Dalaran, Orgrimmar, and Ironforge that will turn you into a gnome. More dungeon bosses drop the festive Holiday Hats and the Abominable Greench, the boss for this holiday, now scales based on your level. During all of this, make sure to unlock as many looks as you can during the event to beef up your appearance tab and be festive all year round.
There are pets, toys, recipes, drinks, and eats to collect along the way. Don’t forget the Long Strange Trip meta achievement, if you haven’t gotten it already now is the time. Or, you know, you cold wait another year. Like I do. With Children’s Week. Every. Single. Year.
