Protecting the family is more important than ever on Fear the Walking Dead. In “The Raft,” Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christina Evangelista) are put in a dangerous situation, forcing them to choose between their safety and the code.
Last week, John Dorie Sr. (Keith Caradine) determined to protect his legacy by saving Baby Mo (Avaya White) from Victor (Colman Domingo). He safely carried Mo through the moat of walkers surrounding the tower. When he reached Morgan (Lennie James), John revealed a bite on his shoulder.

Sherry drags a raft from the sub to the nearest body of water. She is putting supplies in the raft when Dwight radios her, wondering where she is. Dwight received an SOS from a woman named Maya in the woods. He leaves to help the woman and Sherry promises to meet him at Maya’s location.
When Dwight gets to Maya, she is surrounded by radiated walkers. He shoots as many as he can before running out of ammo. A walker gets super close to Maya before Sherry shows up to kill the walker. Maya heard Victor’s message and is looking for the tower. She’s not from the area though. She sailed in on a boat while searching for her son. Dwight tells her where to find the tower, despite Sherry’s annoyance.
Sherry starts to question why Dwight would send Maya to the tower when they plan to attack it. Before they can really get into the discussion, Morgan radios the couple for assistance. He is walking with Baby Mo and Victor’s horde of moat walkers. Morgan led the walkers away from the tower so it would be unprotected. But now he needs to know where he can dump the walkers before returning to the sub. Dwight radio’s Luciana for the location of the crater.
Dwight and Sherry meet up with Morgan to take over leading the walkers, but Victor’s rangers show up as well. They start shooting at Morgan, but their shots attract the walkers, giving Morgan time to escape. Morgan gives Mo to Sherry and Dwight, telling them to take her to safety. He expects more rangers are coming and they will be looking for him, not Dwight and Sherry. At the same time, he will lead the walkers to the crater.
Dwight and Sherry leave with Mo, but run into a lone ranger, Wes (Colby Hollman). Wes demands they return Mo to Victor. He knows their code, so he’s confident they will comply. Sherry shoots at Wes’s horse, forcing the horse to throw him off. They take off and tell Wes to consider re-joining them.
Morgan leads the horde down a rocky hill when an explosion goes off. He thinks it’s the rangers and hides, only to be startled by Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey). She set off the explosion, thinking Morgan needed help. He tells her his plan to lead the walkers to the crater and attack the tower asap. Alicia says they’re not ready and they don’t have enough people. She gets frustrated asking why he didn’t wait for her. Her trip took a little longer than they have and he saw an opportunity. She’s not completely convinced but she agrees to help Morgan lead the walkers.
Dwight and Sherry stop for a break at a car wash. Luciana (Danay Garcia) radios them to let the know the sub is leaking radiation. She is leading an evacuation. Dwight tries to come up with a new plan. He picks Sherry’s backpack and she freaks out. Dwight knows Sherry is keeping something from him. He finds maps in the bag and asks what she’s up to.
Sherry doesn’t want Dwight to go to the tower. She knows how he can change under a tyrant’s rule. She doesn’t want him to become that person again. Sherry set up the raft for Dwight to escape if they can’t take the tower from Victor. Dwight is mad that Sherry has no faith in him to not become a monster.
Wes and two more rangers catch up. Dwight decides to go with them willingly since Sherry thinks he’s a monster anyway. He yells at her to get Baby Mo ready. Dwight walks toward Wes, as Sherry packs up the baby. Dwight kills the two rangers and starts a fight with Wes. He tells Sherry to take Mo and run. She hesitates for a moment but then quickly leaves.
Morgan asks Alicia about her condition. She says her dreams are getting worse, but she changes the subject to the tower. Morgan plays the walkman for Alicia. Grace left a message for Morgan, telling him to take Mo far away from Victor and to not worry about what happens to her. He doesn’t want to leave. If he can take the tower now, he won’t have to go. Alicia says they are tired, hungry, sick and outnumbered. Morgan reminds her that those things have never stopped them before. He thinks Alicia is stalling. She keeps saying she doesn’t have much time.
Dwight catches up with Sherry at the remains of the Franklin Hotel. He radios the group to confirm where Teddy’s bunker is hidden. Alicia answers, saying she’s with Morgan. Dwight asks if there’s another way out and she says there is a drain, but it’s unstable.
Sherry wants to hide in the bunker, but Dwight is afraid the rangers heard the radio exchange. He wants to go to the crater but Sherry says the radiation levels are too high. Baby Mo has protective gear, but the radiation could affect Sherry and Dwight. They start to argue about why they should or shouldn’t go through the crater. Sherry stops the argument by saying she might be pregnant. Dwight changes his tone and they go into the bunker.
They find a safe place to rest and Sherry apologizes for not telling Dwight sooner. She says she already took a test but hasn’t had a chance to see what it says. That’s the real reason she didn’t want him to go through her bag. She takes the test out. If it’s positive, Sherry is afraid Dwight will take Victor’s offer so they will have a safe place to raise their baby. And that could destroy Dwight. She wants their child to know the real him, not the person Victor would turn him into.
Dwight appreciates Sherry’s efforts to protect him, but he wants the opportunity to protect her too. That’s why they have to read the test together. Sherry gets excited, but they are interrupted by the rangers. They have to keep moving towards the drains to escape.
Morgan and Alicia find the crater, but it’s empty. There is a truck with a large ramp dumped on the side of the crater. The walkers used the ramp to crawl out. Someone deliberately put that truck there. Morgan wants to find another place to dump the walkers.
Sherry and Dwight find the tunnel and come up with a plan to get the rangers off their trail. Morgan and Alicia will be walking by close enough for them to hear the alarms, leading the walkers into the bunker. Dwight starts digging while Sherry sets off the fire alarm. Wes is inside the bunker. He tells the rangers to find the alarm turn it off, but it’s too late.
Morgan and Alicia hear the alarms and are in sync with Sherry and Dwight’s plan. They lead the walkers to the bunker. Meanwhile Dwight and Sherry are crawling through the drains with Baby Mo but they can hear the walkers above them. Morgan tries to radio Dwight but can’t get through. He helps Alicia lead the walkers into the bunker.
The walkers attack the rangers while Wes hides. Underground, the drain collapses, trapping Dwight, Sherry and Mo in the tunnel. Dwight is about to give up when Sherry pulls out the test again. The test is positive. She is determined to save Mo and her baby. Sherry found Alicia’s weapon and uses it to dig out of the tunnel. Morgan and Alicia are waiting for them on the other side of the drain when they get through.
Dwight informs Morgan that the sub is unsafe so Alicia can’t use the transmitter to call for assistance. The woman they saved, Maya, heard Victor’s message from the water. That means Victor has an antenna for that type of range. Alicia can use the transmitter there. All the more reason to take the tower now.
Morgan says he’s going to take Mo far away like Grace asked him to. Sherry knows a way out. They meet everyone at the raft and prepare for Morgan and Mo to leave. Morgan feels bad for leaving and almost decides to stay. Alicia tells him to go for Grace and himself. She says they are both doing something they don’t want to do, but it will be okay. Alicia can do this and she will see Morgan again.
Dwight tells Sherry that she should go too, but she refuses. Victor doesn’t know about the pregnancy so he can’t use it against them. They have something to fight for now. They all say goodbye to Morgan and watch him sail away. Alicia gathers everyone and leads them to the tower.
