The zombie apocalypse continues! AMC renewed Fear the Walking Dead for season seven today. The news comes as Fear TWD ends the first half of a successful season six. And after the announcement in September that the flagship show, The Walking Dead is ending after season 11. The announcement was made on the Fear TWD twitter page.

Fear TWD stars Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman, Alexa Nisenson, Austin Amelio, Rubén Blades and Karen David. James and Amelio crossed over from TWD after TWD season eight. The Fear family was split up at the end of season five and they are slowly finding their way back to each other in season six.

Fear TWD showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss took over in season five, but it took some time for them to find the flow of the story. In season six, they went with an anthology style of storytelling that is proving to be much preferred by the fans. And that’s something we will see in TWD season 10 C in February.

The Walking Dead universe is ever growing. There’s always hope for more crossovers. And with TWD ending, it may happen.  Or it may not. We can never get a straight answer from TWDU chief content officer Scott Gimple. But we do now that Fear the Walking Dead will be around for another year at least. I’m hoping for a time jump and a giant war that reunites Morgan and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) before it’s all over.

Fear the Walking Dead season six returns in 2021.
