RECLAMATION
Al left the dam to search for Isabella (Sydney Lemmon) and she found her. Isabella is the CRM pilot who rescued Luciana’s (Danay Garcia) group from the nuclear blast at the end of season six. Since then people have questioned who the pilot is, but Al won’t tell them.
When Morgan found Sarah (Mo Collins), he invited the group back to the submarine. Daniel (Rubén Blades), Luciana, Sarah, Wes (Colby Hollman), Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) and Jacob (Peter Jacobson) agreed to join him, but Al didn’t make it. Morgan and Grace (Karen David) decided to look for Al, to make sure she’s okay.
Al is listening in on the radio for any CRM communications. She hears them say the word “reclamation” and knows they are after Isabella. Morgan finds the m-wrap van but no sign of Al. The reclamation team finds the van too. Al returns to the van to find the team entering the van. After they leave, she runs to retrieve her things, but her camera is gone. This is when Morgan finds her.
Morgan has a lot of questions about what Al is doing. She gives him the usual story that she belongs on the road, recording the stories of the people she encounters. They have to move because the CRM soldiers are coming back. They decide to go to the rendezvous point to meet Grace.
AL’S ANSWERS
The reclamation team catches up and starts shooting at them. As they escape the gunfire, Morgan asks Al who these people are. She tells them that this is a reclamation team. Their only mission is to destroy any evidence that they were in the area. They’re also after the pilot. If they find the pilot, they will kill her. Morgan wants to make sure they don’t find Al’s friend. He radios Grace to let her know that he’s at the rendezvous point.
Grace arrives, but Al does not want to go with them. Morgan won’t leave without her, so she gets in the car. The car runs out of gas so they hide it in the woods. Morgan and Grace give Al a quick update about baby Mo. She is shocked to find out that Rachel is dead. She also asks them to return to the baby, but Morgan and Grace want to help Al find her friend.
Al comes up with a plan to get rid of the soldiers. Morgan and Grace will go to a helicopter and retrieve the fuel and ammo. Al will lead the soldiers to a designated location where they will all meet up and Morgan can fire upon them. She goes to a cabin where she spent time with Isabella.
Throughout the episodes, we see clips of Al talking to Isabella. Meanwhile Morgan and Grace find the helicopter, but there’s no ammo. Morgan calls Al on the radio but she knew there would be no ammo. She says she’s got it covered. Al tells them to go back to the baby. Her friend gave up everything to save their friends. She won’t let Grace and Morgan do the same thing. Morgan asks for her location, but Al turns the radio channel.
LET’S MAKE A DEAL
Al contacts the CRM soldiers. She says she knows why they are there and what they are looking for. She says she has their flight patterns and maps. Al offers to give everything back in exchange for her camera and an interview. They say they don’t have the camera and Al thinks they are lying.
Morgan and Grace go back to the m-wrap and Grace finds Al’s camera. Morgan let Al think the soldiers took it so she wouldn’t have an excuse to leave. Grace is trying to find out if Al left anything on the tape that indicates where she went.
While she waits, Al captures a walker and nails its foot to the ground. She talks to it for a minute and then ducks. When she ducks she pulls a string to a cannon that’s set up behind her. The rocks in the cannon destroy the walker. Her plan is to do the same to the CRM soldiers.
Al fills the cannon with large rocks and calls the reclamation team. They decline her offer to meet because they have Morgan and Grace. They ask for Isabella’s whereabouts to they will kill them. Grace tries to appeal to the soldiers by saying they have a daughter. Morgan and Al both try to reason with the soldiers but they decide to kill Morgan if they don’t get the information they want. After two warning shots, Al gives in. She says Isabella went to a cabin in the Smokey Mountains that belonged to her co-pilot.
The reclamation team needs confirmation of Isabella’s location before they will let Morgan and Grace go. Al offers to take them there. Morgan tries to talk Al out of giving up her friend. He doesn’t think the soldiers will kill them, saying they need him and Grace. They prepare to shoot and Morgan pushes the gun away. He wrestles with the soldier for the gun and Grace kicks the soldier. When the soldier falls, Morgan grabs the gun.
LAST DITCH EFFORT
Grace gets up and runs to the truck. The soldier goes for round two with Morgan, while the second soldier watches. Grace calls Al to let her know she has the van. She starts it up and drives forward. Morgan grabs the soldier he’s fighting with and releases him when the van gets close. He rolls to one side and pushes the soldier to the other side. The second soldier starts shooting. Morgan gets in the van and head towards Al’s location.
Later that night, Morgan asks Grace if she meant it when she called Mo their daughter. She did and that makes Morgan happy. They hear a helicopter above them. Morgan calls Al to let them know the CRM is with them. The helicopter passes the van and starts to land.
Al sees the soldiers coming toward about the same time that Grace drives up. She sits in the m-wrap with them. The plan is to move the van when Al gives the signal. She will pull the cord tied to the cannon, killing the soldiers. A walker approaches and walks into the string, disconnecting it. Morgan gets out to tie the string back on the cannon while Al and Grace stall.
Al tries to get the soldiers to talk to her. She says she has Isabella’s location on her camera. She gets out of the van and the soldiers ask for the tape. As soon as Morgan has the string tied to the cannon, he yells for Grace to move. Al hits the ground and he pulls the string. The rocks shoot out of the cannon and the two CRM soldiers implode. (Greatest kill EVER!!!)
GIVE UP EVERYTHING
Afterward, Al says she’s still leaving. Morgan asks for an interview. They stop to tape the interview. Morgan asks if she knows where her friend is and why she’s not going after her. Basically, Al made a promise to her brother to get people’s stories. If she were to go with Isabella, she can’t do that. Isabella has to hide from the CRM if they want to survive. Al doesn’t want to give up everything the way Isabella did for her.
Morgan asks for Al’s friend’s name but she won’t tell him. She gives him a tape instead. She says goodbye to Grace and Morgan. Morgan asks where’s she’s going. she doesn’t get a clear answer. Grace says whoever she thinks she’s letting down wouldn’t want her to miss out.
Al goes back to the cabin to get the maps for the CRM drop sites. Morgan followed her. She says she made up her mind, but so did Morgan at one time. John and Al wouldn’t let him leave without trying one more time. They hear a voice on the soldier’s radio. Their command is recalling the reclamation team. They have Isabella’s coordinates and are sending the team to get her. Al knows no matter where Isabella goes, they will find her.
Morgan wants to know that Al is going after Isabella. Al says she’s not sure. Morgan says it’s not about giving up the camera, it’s about Al being scared. She’s part of the story and she can pretend she’s not connected but she is. He’s grateful he got to be a part of her story. And glad she was a part of his. He tells her to go find her friend.
AT LEAST … TRY
Al takes off in the helicopter to the cabin where Isabella is staying. When she walks inside, a tape is of Al is playing on the TV. Isabella walks up behind Al with a shotgun. She puts it down as soon as she sees Al’s face. Al says the CRM are on their way. And she wants to go with Isabella.
Isabella made her peace with Al’s decision. She was right. The CRM won’t stop looking for her and they will always be looking over their shoulders. The only way this works is to stay one step ahead of them. Al knows the consequences. She is ready to give up everything. Al smashes her camera to prove to Isabella that she’s ready. But she’s scared. Isabella knows all of that and wants to know what’s different now. Al says not trying and not seeing Isabella was scarier. They will find something new together. And if they don’t at least they gave it a try. Isabella kisses Al. Al asks where they are going first and Isabella hugs her.
