Troy Otto returns on Fear the Walking Dead

Things go from bad to worse for everyone on Fear the Walking Dead. In “Iron Tiger,” Troy (Daniel Sharman) finds leverage over Madison (Kim Dickens) that could be deadly for them all.  Somewhat new villain Troy returned to the game, trying to find out where the PADRE settlement is located. Like many others, Troy wants to take over the island. But part of his reasoning is because of Madison. This is about more than just a hammer to the head.

Madison, Daniel (Rubén Blades), Victor (Colman Domingo) with a fresh haircut, and others are looking for fuel. They stop at a known gas station, but they don’t know who the fuel provider is. Luckily for them it’s a familiar face. PADRE found out that Luciana (Danay Garcia) knew how to make fuel and sent her to a hidden refinery and gave her a staff to provide them with fuel. Everyone is happy to see her, but Luciana is acting very sketchy.

There are several walkers around with one arm. Madison thinks it’s Alicia, but it’s not. She feels bad that she never looked for Alicia. Now she wants to find her corpse and bury her body.

Luciana has been busy. She set up way stations for people to get food, supplies and fuel if they need it. Her operation is well protected. She won’t even let Daniel know where her headquarters are. A fuel truck pulls up and Luciana tells the driver, Iron Tiger, to wait in the truck. Madison doesn’t like that Luciana is being so secretive. Daniel is sure there is a reasonable explanation and follows Luciana to the truck.

The reason she was being so weird was because the truck driver is Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) and Charlie killed Madison’s son Nick. But Madison didn’t know that. No one told her because everyone thought Charlie was dead. By the way, Charlie is alive because PADRE had medicine to help sustain her life with radiation poisoning. Part of Luciana’s deal with PADRE was that she got to have Charlie on her staff. Another part of the agreement was for PADRE to set Daniel free.

Madison gets angry. She beats up an old car, kills a few walkers and cries because things could have been different. if she hadn’t accept Charlie at the stadium, Nick would be alive. And if she had hit Troy harder, Alicia might be alive as well. Madison asks why Charlie is still alive. Victor says they gave her a second chance. And Alicia was the first do that.

Charlie tries to apologize for killing Nick, but Madison doesn’t want to hear it. Charlie says she feels really bad for taking Nick away from the world. Something good did come of it and she will do anything to help Madison see that. There is one thing she can do. Madison tells her to kill Troy.

Charlie agrees. Her plan is to trade fuel with Troy. Daniel and Luciana do not like the idea of Charlie going after Troy, but Charlie insists on getting rid of Troy for Madison. After Charlie leaves, Daniel asks to say with Luciana, but she says its safer if he returns to the island. She says she wanted to look for him but in order to protect him, he has to go back.

Madison finds a tin can and a note with her name on it. The can contains Nick’s remains. Luciana explains that they buried Nick in North Texas. While they were clearing roads, Charlie asks to see where he was buried so she could apologize. They buried him in a hurry so they could get weapons. Charlie said Nick deserves better. So they dug him up, burned his remains and brought him with them. Madison agrees that Nick deserves better. Charlie left the can for Madison because she would know where to bury Nick.

Madison has a change of heart and calls Charlie on the radio telling her to come back. Charlie says she can’t come back. She encountered Troy before she got to the hotel and he won’t let her leave. He opens the door and tells Charlie to get out. Madison asks Charlie where she is, revealing that Charlie knows his enemy. Troy knocks out Charlie. When she doesn’t answer, Madison knows that Troy has Charlie. Daniel and Luciana jump up to leave to rescue Charlie.

Troy takes Charlie back to the hotel where he is cutting the left arms off of walkers. He wants Madison to think the walkers are Alicia. He demands to know the location of PADRE, but Charlie doesn’t actually know the location. She says they would leave tankers at drop points for the island. Troy doesn’t believe her. She tells him to find a map of drop points in the truck. One of them could be the path to PADRE.

Troy is about to hurt Charlie when he hears an explosion. The tanker blows up. Charlie set a bomb on the truck, hoping Troy would drive the tanker near the hotel. Madison, Daniel, Luciana and Victor arrive at the hotel to rescue Charlie. Troy radios Madison, accusing her of sending Charlie in to kill him. Now she will have to tell him where PADRE is if she wants Charlie back alive.  Charlie wanted to get captures. She tells Madison not to give up the location. Troy hits Charlie and promises to kill her if he doesn’t get what he wants. Madison tells him to meet her in front of the hotel. She will tell him where PADRE is.

At the face to face meeting, Madison asks why Troy is so interested in PADRE. He wants a safe place for his people to live, a place that no one can take from them. Troy makes it clear that he doesn’t trust Madison or her people. He sends one of his guys with Victor to confirm the location of the island. Once they return, he will give Charlie to Madison.  As they are about to leave, Charlie kills her guard. She says she’s not going to let Troy take PADRE, because PADRE is what Alicia wanted. And it’s a way to make Nick’s death mean something. The only way to protect that is for Charlie to die. So she kills herself.

Troy loses his leverage but refuses to let Madison leave. Then he gets some bad news that someone named Tracy is missing. Troy freaks out and starts searching for Tracy. Madison figures out that Troy has kids with him and Tracy is his daughter. One of the caretakers says Tracy wanted to see the truck because she had never seen one running before. Troy says Tracy’s mother is dead because of Madison.

Madison asks who she took from Troy. He says it was the woman who rescued him from the dam and gave him a second chance. Victor pulls Madison off of Troy, saying they have to leave. As he pulls her away, Troy says Madison killed ‘her.’

The next morning, Luciana takes Madison, Victor and Daniel to the tanker. Daniel is very upset about Charlie. They took her body to bury. Luciana gives the keys to Madison and says it’s all the fuel she’s going to get. Troy knows about her people, so they are at risk now. and they lost Charlie because Luciana got in the middle of a fight that wasn’t hers.

Daniel decides to leave with Luciana. Madison tries to talk him out of it, but he blames her for Charlie’s death. He says there’s something fundamentally wrong with her. And Daniel say she can no longer defend her. Daniel asks Luciana to let him come with her and protect her. Luciana agrees and they leave.
