Mo listens to PADRE on Fear the Walking Dead

Things just keep getting worse on Fear the Walking Dead. In, “More Time Than You Know,” Morgan (Lennie James) and Mo (Zoey Merchant) are in a race against time and PADRE after Grace (Karen David) was bitten by a walker.

A quick trip to King County turned into a deadly encounter in more ways than one. First, PADRE enlisted the services of Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christina Evangelista) to find and capture Morgan. They ended up double crossing Shrike to save their son Finch (Gavin Warren) from her grasp. Morgan, Mo and Grace tried to escape as well until a walker bit Grace. Morgan went to Dwight for help and now they are all trying to get to June (Jenna Elfman)

The group commandeered the PADRE boat and radioed June to let her know about Grace. She has a fever and is in and out of consciousness. Everyone is aware that June is using radiation to treat Finch and so far, he’s fine. They hope that she can do the same for Grace, but all of the equipment is on the train car. Shrike (Maya Eshet) moved the train car and hid it from Morgan and his people. And to make things worse, PADRE is chasing them down.

Shrike listened in on Morgan’s conversation with June . She offers him a deal to save Grace’s life. Shrike asks Morgan to clear the walkers at the shipyard. Morgan asks whats in the containers at the shipyard, but Shrike won’t tell him. She admits that she trained the prefects to do it, but she saw how Morgan cleared the walkers in King County.

Morgan agrees to Shrike’s deal. When Grace hears about it, she’s gets upset. She’s afraid that Morgan and Mo will get killed. Morgan says he asked Daniel and his army for back up and they agreed. Morgan radios Daniel and they are ready to go, with enough ammo to clear the shipyard. Shrike hears them and says they can’t use guns. There are supplies in the containers that could explode. The supplies are to build a new world. Daniel backs out after hearing her request.

Grace is okay with dying and doesn’t want anyone else to die for her. She doesn’t have much time and wants to spend it with Morgan and Mo. She reveals to Mo that she was dying anyway.  Mo is sad to hear this  and will whatever it takes to spend every minute with Grace. The truck stops. Shrike assumed Morgan isn’t clearing the shipyard. She orders her guards to pull Grace out and kill her. The guards hesitate long enough for Mo to run at them. Morgan and Dwight grab the drivers and knock them out.

Shrike calls for an update and Dwight informs her that her guards are down. Morgan decides to take Grace to the train car and asks June to meet them there. Grace gives Morgan a set of coordinates to follow instead. She passes out before telling them what it is. It leads to a repeater station. Morgan is confused as to why she wanted to go to a repeater station and decides to go to the train car instead.

The group splits up to throw Shrike off of Morgan’s trail. When Grace wakes up, she is upset that they aren’t headed in the right direction. they hear gunshots and assume that PADRE has found Dwight. Morgan calls him on the walkie and he reveals that prefects are chasing them. Dwight uses his training to scare the prefects away while Sherry and Finch run. When he catches up to them, Finch is having trouble breathing. They contact June and reveal he also has a fever. June asks about his bite and it’s inflamed and hot to the touch. They decide to head for the repeater station.

Grace reveals that she scavenged supplies so they could live away from PADRE. She wanted to build a safe home for Mo. Morgan says they can still do that, but first they need to find the train car. They see flares fly in the sky and know that PADRE has spotted them. Morgan hears Dwight’s conversation with June and agrees that she needs to see Finch. Mo is upset to hear this, but they realize that if June’s treatment isn’t working for Finch, it won’t work for Grace. They see another flare and Morgan decides to leave. He wants to lead them off of Grace’s trail, but promises to find them.

Grace falls asleep again and when she wakes up, she is on a railroad cart. Mo believes she can save Grace, but Grace wants her to contact Morgan. They run into a group of prefects, led by Dove (Jayla Walton). Mo tries to tell the prefects that PADRE isn’t real, but Dove says PADRE isn’t a person, it’s an idea.  Mo says Dove will have to kill her to stop her. She reminds Dove about how she felt when she found out her mother was dead. And Mo knows Dove, or any of the prefects wants her to feel that way. They all let Mo pass with Grace.

Dwight and Sherry make it to the repeater station with Finch. They find Grace’s supplies and wonder what she was preparing for. Someone knocks at the door and Dwight gets his gun ready. June and Daniel are at the door. They left Madison guarding the woods with some of Daniel’s soldiers. June rushes in to help Finch.

Mo sets up Grace in a bed and contacts June. June lets her know that Finch’s infection is back. But she says she didn’t give him a high dose of radiation because she didn’t want him to get sick. Since Grace already has cancer, a higher dosage will not hurt her. She guides Mo through administering radiation to Grace. When the procedure is over, she says they just have to wait to see if Grace’s fever will go down. Dwight wonders what this means for Finch, but only time will tell.

PADRE shot flares in the air to draw walkers to the train car. Now they are surrounding the car. Mo isn’t scared though; losing Grace is scarier. Grace talks to Mo about all of the things she wanted to show her. Grace appears to be getting worse. Mo radios June and June tells her to take Grace’s temperature. Her temperature is 106, which means the radiation isn’t working. There’s nothing more June can do. Mo gets upset, wanting to give Grace more, but June won’t tell her how much to give.  She tells Mo to enjoy the time they have left.

Grace tells Mo that it’s okay. Everything is going to be okay. Morgan heard the conversation on the walkie and radios Mo. He’s running in the woods trying to find the train car. Morgan doesn’t think he will find them in time. Grace says goodbye to Morgan over the radio. Morgan says Mo needs to leave, but she can’t. There are too many walkers outside. That means she will have to stab Grace before she reanimates, if Morgan doesn’t make it.

Mo picks up a scalpel and promises to take care of her. She apologizes to Grace for taking away the time Grace had left. Grace says Mo didn’t take her time away, she gave her more time. When things got really bad, Morgan and Grace contemplated ending things. The only thing that changed their mind was Mo. She gave them a reason to live. Mo gave them more time than she knows. RIP Grace.

Mo is sad that her mom is dead and can’t bring herself to stab her in the head. It doesn’t take long for Grace to reanimate. Mo does a good job of keeping walker Grace from biting her, but she loses the scalpel in the process. Mo tries to escape the car, but she blocked the entrance and can’t get around it. To keep from being trapped, Mo pushes Grace out of the entrance of the car, but ends up with Grace on top of her. She tries to reach for the scalpel, but it’s too far. Luckily, Morgan shows up before Grace can bite Mo.

Morgan closes Grace’s eyes and then hears Shrike call for him. He leaves Mo with Grace’s body in the train car. Morgan asks Shrike to leave them alone so they can bury Grace, but Shrike says she can’t.  She says she knows the pain that Mo, aka Ren is feeling. Her purpose for doing what she does is to prevent others from feeling that pain.

Mo comes out of the car and says Shrike is right. Even though Morgan says there’s nothing that Shrike can do to keep Mo from feeling the loss, Mo turns on Morgan. She asks Shrike what’s in the containers. Shrike says it’s stuff to help them build more settlements all over the country so others don’t have to feel the way Ren is feeling now. Morgan says you can’t run from your feelings.

Mo ignores Morgan and says she can clear the shipyard. She asks Dove to help her. This is what PADRE has been training them for anyway. Morgan tries to stop Mo from going, but she won’t listen to him. Shrike prevents Morgan from following Mo. Morgan tries to fight his way through Shrike and her guards, but Shrike trips him with his own ax.

Morgan says she can’t kill him because he doesn’t die. Everyone else does, but Morgan doesn’t. She says he needs to think about why that happens. She tells the guards to put Morgan in the train car and make sure he can’t get out. The guards shoot flares in the air and Shrike drops Morgan’s ax. Walkers immediately surround the train car as she walks away.
