It was announced that newcomer and star of Fargo Season 2, Rachel Keller, has been cast as the female lead of FX’s Marvel TV series, Legion. No concrete word on who she’ll be playing other than a breakdown saying that she is an “optimistic, scrappy young lady in her 20’s” and may have powers that have to do with human touch, not unlike Rogue.
Legion is about the son of Charles “Professor X” Xavier and Gabrielle Haller. David Charles Haller originally created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Bill Sienkiewicz, is an omega-level mutant that has struggled with mental illness his entire life. He is a diagnosed schizophrenic and also suffers from a form of dissociative identity disorder, with each of his personas controlling one of his many superpowers. With that being established and Fargo creator, Noah Hawley at the helm, we know that the possibilities of this being a very dark series are strong.
It’s conceived more as a standalone. I don’t want to say too much more about it on that level, but certainly it’s not constructed as a back-door anything. It’s more just that there’s a story that I want to explore that has to fit into that larger universe, which is exciting.
Noah Hawley will write and be the show runner for Legion. It will be produced by Bryan Singer, Lauren Schuler Doner, Simon Kinberg, Jeff Loeb and Jim Chory. Fargo’s John Cameron will also be an executive producer on this project.
