It used to be when you stepped onto Fantasy Island, you lived out your wildest dreams. There was also a lesson about getting what you wish for though. That’s certainly the case in this film. Lucy Hale and Michael Peña star in Blumhouse’s horror version of the famous 70s TV show. And it’s creepy!
Fantasy Island is a luxurious resort that promises to make your wishes come true. Peña plays the enigmatic Mr. Rourke who oversees the island but there’s no Tattoo (Hervé Villechaize) in this story. Parisa Fitz-Henley plays Roarke’s assistant Julia who seems very nice…maybe too nice. They pride themselves over being able to grant wishes to the contest winners on the island. Careful what you wish for though. Hale finds that out the hard way.
Hale’s character, Melanie wishes for revenge. She wants to torment her childhood bully played by Portia Doubleday. Maggie Q also stars as a grieving mother who is reunited with her daughter. Is that really her daughter though? The guests get suspicious and it turns to a fight for their lives. When things turn dark, there’s no telling what or who will pop up in your nightmares. Unfortunately there is one rule. Once a fantasy begins, you must see it through. Or what?
The film also stars Austin Stowell, Michael Rooker, Kim Coates, and Robbie Jones. Jeff Wadlow directs and wrote the script with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs. According to Screenrant, the film is rated PG-13.
Check out the trailer below. And if you haven’t seen the classic series starring Ricardo Montalban, you should definitely check that out too!
Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island debuts on February 14, Valentine’s Day! LOL! How appropriate!
